Martin's legal Optons may be limited

I always predicted Wells' report would never ever implicate Philbin or the FO in order to protect the NFL from lawsuits.

If you read the entire article, near the end it does a good job explaining what a mess this thing could become should it go to court. Going to court isn't good for either side. They'll come to some kind of settlement.

never really thought the objective here was to bring a lawsuit. Never thought there would be much of a case for a lawsuit. Just dysfunction at its finest

Are Jon's parent's lawyers?

Yes and so is Ted Wells. We cant have it both ways where we decide that his parents are the mastermind behind MArtin and this process yet somehow they would be too stupid to realize they don't have a case.

The Dolphins really know how to put the fun in dysfunction.

p.s. The Media IMO will now be focused on Ray Rice's recent visit to Atlantic City.

No lawsuit....no settlement. Reinstate Martin and he has no damages to claim since he was paid his full salary in 2013.

The real question is what to do with him. He is still under contract with the Phins, so if Martin wants to play elsewhere, the Phins would have to release him and that will not be done without conditions being met on a release of all claims.

I still don't think this will be case of workplace harassment but about Martin keeping the remaining portion of his signing bonus.

Bottom line: Martin lacked the courage to defend himself against bullying and many people lost their job for it.

It's a shame. And Martin needs to make an apology.

People don't get it. The vast majority of these lawsuits are flimsy to begin with. The goal is simply to get into discovery, hope to embarass people and run up the former employer's legal fees and get a settlement.

All the article is assuming is that the Wells report's conclusions about people's subjective state of mind is accurate. A plaintiffs' lawyer who has the benefit of sworn depositions and document requests can paint a very different picture to a jury.

That won't work. There's his pain and suffering, and he'll probably claim he would have been Orlando Pace had his psyche not been so damaged. Plus there are punitive damages.

Just ask Isiah Thomas and the Knicks how it works.

I guess anyone can sue for anything they want......but I don't think that is going to occur in this case. This is a workplace issue and for what your describing to occur, the Dolphins have to be proven to have known about this and allowed it to continue. I haven't seen anything to indicate that happened. Also, Martin himself says he never told anyone.

If the Dolphins were worried about discovery, they wouldn't have invited in a 3rd party investigator and asked their staff and players to cooperate.
