I want opinions

After all the talk that we need to Upgrade the WR position Marty Booker has stepped up well recently do you think he should be back as the #2 WR next year?

and

Gus Played pretty well today, and pretty well recently, and whether you like him or not he has been doing what it takes to win, Ive noticed a few people starting to say 'Well Gus should get a shot next year he is coming around' and I want to know if this performance gives him the right to return as the #1 QB next year with a young guy behind him

I think booker will return to be the teams #2 reciever and Gus will start off the season as we groom a QB we will draft in my opinion

Agreed.

I don't think Frerotte has "the right" to return as #1, but I think as a consequence of what will be available, in light of his familiarity of the sytem, he'd have to be the favorite to do so.

Booker? He's fine. The only thing idiots around here have against him is he wasn't drafted by us and Spielman brought him in.

I have no problem bringing Gus back at a low price below 2 million and bringing in real competition but Gus has not earned the right to be QB starter next year and playing against New England's backups proved nothing but he had a good game.

I think WR is one of the few positions we don't need to address. I think Chambers and Booker with Welker is more than adequate. I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed a big time guy like Wayne or ....ummm..cough cough...T.O.! I can't believe I just typed that. It shouldn't be a top priority though. As far as Frerotte, If we draft a guy like Cutler or another QB fairly high I wouldn't be shocked if he was still here. On the other hand if we pull a trade off for Rivers or another QB then obviously Frerotte will be gone. At this point I would rather draft a guy and have Frerotte still here while the young guy learns for a while, Frerotte showed enough lately that with a few other improvements in the o-line etc.. that he can be a decent QB.

you indirectly hit on a good point there. In order for Welker to be more a part of the passing game, we need a special teamer to take over that role for him. Do we get the kid from LSU? #5. forget his name. Remember this about Nick Saban, he will look for role players who make there 2 or 3 plays a game to help win. New England is built that way. No name recievers who know their job. I think a Nick Saban will look to a cheap Josh Reed or someone like that at WR. Keep Booker ( i hope) and then you have 4 legitimate team players who can dominate with a strong running game and Ronnie Brown being more involved in the passing game.

make sure you tell that to Saban when the season starts next year. Gus is average but controls the game well with no big mistakes. If gus tried to be all out all the time, we would make costly mistakes. Gus today had a few balls that were ugly and easy to convert and he blew it, could have scored a TD maybe instead of a FG a few times. He was good on most throws. mcmicheal dropped two or three today that I noticed. Werent perfect passes but I think Gus was trying to keep it away from the LB's.

If we take a receiver, he has to be the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE when we take him, otherwise its not a nessecity. And frerrotte would be perfect to keep around while say someone like cutler learns the offense.

i think our Wr's are fine considering we have so many offensive weapons with - welker, chambers, booker, brown, williams and mcmicahel.

we dont need more than 3 good recievers with that kinda talent on offense
