Is it just me or is this guy a really good, classy football player??

1. He has a knack for making LONG catches ( never averaged less than 10 yards a catch in his career).

2. We never hear about "Booker upset because he's not being targetted enough". COUGH COUGH CHAMBERS COUGH. we never hear him complaining about his contract like most recievers seem to do.

3. His numbers the last 3 years have been very good for #2 reciever. When he is the #1 reciever, he is even better (100 catch season in chicago, 97 catch season in chicago.)

I'm not saying that booker is more talented than chambers, but it does seem like booker has more class. he goes out and does his job and makes big plays, without complaining.

if there was one thing negative to say about him, i suppose it would be injury issues. he seems to miss a couple games each year. but overall id say he is more than worth keeping

edit: forgot to mention he barely EVER drops balls, even though he has taken some big shots.

I Agree. Booker has always been solid going back to his days in Chicago. I hope to see him finish his career as a Fin

Broadway Joe says,

"I've learned my lesson about calling out players as quality, classy players. Don't be like me!"

On topic, Booker is indeed solid. He certainly played his position this past year, coming up with a good many catches in an offense that spread the ball around an incredible amount. Would I just cut him from the team with no fallback? Heck no. It's likely we'll see him back this year, as we get Hagan more involved with the first squad from the start of the year and get him up to speed.

well i am going to admitt that i have wrong about marty booker and i want to apologize to all the booker fans for being so hard on him and i dont wish him gone or anything bad. i have been too much of a osu homer and i want to apologize for that too. truth is i just wanted some okies on our roster for selfish reasons.
OUR RECEIVERS JUST NEED TO FOCUS ON CATCHING THE BALL.
booker , chambers and jarrett and welker would be my first choice for a receiving corp.:ninja:

The shots at Chambers for him mentioning not contributing is unwarranted in my opinion. If you read or watch the interview and not some second hand info, you would see that he was upset he wasn't contributing more. There's a big difference, he wants to help more but he was tempered by the fact the team was winning at the time. If that's not class then what is. He was saying, "i'm being paid 7 million so I need to contribute more, I am not but we're winning so I'm not making a huge deal."

Chambers has been nothing but class I don't see how this changes that. That being said Booker just quietly does his job and that is good. At the beginning of the year he kept falling down so if he takes care of that and our new WR coach whoever it is takes care of the drops, maybe we can have a good WR corps.

I do think Chambers asked for a bit too much money after having 1 good year. 7 million a year? he's one of the highest paid recievers in the league yet his stats weren't even in the top 25 this year...

Well that's a valid opinion, and while I agree he is overpaid (he better earn it this year!) what is he going to do, turn down money? No such thing as asking for too much. The front office was stupid for paying it. Lots of albatross contracts on our roster. Let's see what the future holds. Mare, Chambers, McMike all have big contracts (yes I saw your thread about McMike) but let's see what a new proven offensive caller can do with them.

That's why this team at 6-10 is only 13 mill under the cap and perennial playoff teams like the Pats are 20 mill under. They make more sound financial decisions.
We have several players who are a waste of cap money.

booker is ok, but he was not worth ogunleye even with the draft pick on top of it.

if you dont think of our pro bowl DE thats playing in chicago he is a very good receiver. easy #2, but i dont like our chances if #84 gets hurt so i say look in FA for a solid pickup.

Marty Booker has been really solid. I love to watch him play and get open deep without needing burning speed.

That said.. I smack myself in the forehead the once a game or so that I see him slip on the turf and fall on his face.

Doh!

Are you talking about when he went to McMichael and asked how can get more involved in the offense early in games?
If I remember right, there was a couple of games earlier in the year where Chambers was used primarily as a decoy in the 1st half. I don't know about you but I think it would difficult for any player to take. Especially if that player is competitive.

He's not bad at all but he isn't that special either. He is going to be 31 this July and he is due to hit our cap for over 3 million. He has trade value. If Cam and Mueller are looking for a younger faster offense look for Marty to be gone. If we do keep him we should defintely try to get him the ball more often where he has a chance to run. He was RB when he was younger and he doesn't go down that easy when he is hit.

Booker is a steady and aggressive player. He doesn't have blazing speed and tends to get hurt. However, he is a player that can help us win. A lot of talent and intangibles. He also works with the the QB, no matter who he is (Chambers had his favorite last year and it wasn't Harrington).

However, if we sign a faster FA WR I can see us letting Booker go.

Yeah, when he's not tripping over his own feet he's great :shakeno:
