Alex Marvez of Fox Sports thinks this is a better team than in years past and that fan “outrage” just hasn’t matched the team’s performance.
“There is some good, some bad, some ugly with this team,” Marvez said on the Joe Rose Show this morning on WQAM. “But I don’t know if the outrage matches the performance.
“Its not the same old dolphins. It’s really more individuals breaking down. I don’t think it’s scheme that much.”
Marvez singled out Dallas Thomas as one of those individuals, as the Dolphins’ right tackle allowed four sacks against the Ravens last week, according to Pro Football Focus.
“I just think it’s some guys overwhelmed — I watched Dallas Thomas and this is a guard playing tackle,” Marvez said. “When you watch him set, doesn’t he look like a guard playing tackle? He’s so robotic.”
“I think because they did so well so early and you saw flashes of a team that could be really great like when they beat the San Diego Chargers 37-0, you get disappointed by what has gone on this year and I think that’s the bottom line.”

Everyone on planet earth EXCEPT the one person who matters can see how bad Dallas Thomas is. It's infuriating.

So Marvez thinks things are not as bad as we saying....now, I know I am right.

We had probably our 2nd worst game of the season last Sunday, and fans are rightfully mad, but its not as bad as some fans say. The Ravens loss feels a lot like the Chiefs loss in week 3. We came back strong after that loss, albeit vs the Raiders, but we came out playing with a lot of confidence after that big loss. We still have a fair chance this Sunday - we aren't giving up 6 sacks against the Patriots - so I'm not checking out on this team yet.

this team has always performed worse than they actually are, except in 2008.

You cannot come up so small in games that have the playoffs on the line. 2013 at Buffalo, home with the Jets and last week vs. the Ravens...Joe's team has lost those game 67-20. It is completely unacceptable.

Also, why does Joe Philbins offense always come up small in the fourth quarter and on obvious passing downs? How come Joe Philbin's offense is 0 for 9 in closing out games? Why is Joe Philbin's QB one of the worst in the league at generating game winning drives? Its almost as if Joe Philbin, or somebody on the team, is just not clutch.

How come Marvin Lewis can't win a playoff game?

For the past 2 seasons they have played like crap with the playoffs on the line. There is no fire, want to win, it's quite pathetic.

The story for the dolphins on both offense and defense is shrinking in it's biggest moments. Unfortunately I have to agree with Hayden, THAT specific characteristic comes down to coaching.

A coach's job is get his team to be mentally tough.

The team has been significantly weakened by injuries. In particular Branden Albert and the DBs. You can blame it all on coaching but we haven't had the depth of talent to hold it together.
