Marvin Mitchell is a 250lb LB from University of Tennessee. I haven't heard much about him and was surprised he made it to the 53 man roster. I'm interested to know more about him. I don't even know what position that they have set for him. Appreciate more info...
 
looks like he can tackle i dont know if he can cover
maybe he is a crowder clone
 
From what I have seen, he definitely fits the early down thumper at ILB that is lacking on this team. Edds is more of that nickel/cover guy, Mitchell is the thumper ala what Tim Dobbins was supposed to bring to the defense. Essentially, Mitchell is replacing Tim Dobbins IMO.

I gotta believe either him or Spitler gets cut soon though . . . Miami isn't running with 10 LB's, and definitely not 5 ILB's, when in 2008 we ran with 3 (Crowder, Ayodele, Torbor) . . . actually 6 or 7 guys if you factor in that Trusnik can also play inside and Koa Misi has practiced there in the past as well.

Mitchell is also a very decent special teams player.
 
Glad we kept him.. thought he looked decent. Like Kdawg said he's our thumper if we need him to step in due to injury. Edds and Spitler sure as hell are NOT those. Actually I don't know anything that Spitler is good at.
 
man i hope spitler is released before him. spitler is garbage
 
He has seemingly risen up the ranks pretty quickly and seems to have unseated AJ Edds as the third linebacker looking at when he's played.

Have re-watched the Dallas game 3 times now. I am surprised he's still on the team to be quite honest. Really Really surprised.

He does remind me of Chowder, except much worse.......
 
You guys have to remember, Sparano loves his "special teams aces". Mitchell and Spitler give us special team bodies out there...

trusnick hillard i believe made this team because of special teams play
im still not sold on hillard running ability if we have an injury things could look ugly here..
 
jag...i don't see "thumper" at all...not strong at the poa...another more move lb than stone you in the hole guy...we seem to have completely gone away from the thumper ilb...definitely though a better player than spitler

average instincts from what i've seen

only two seasons ago we had Crowder, Ayodele and Torbor at ILB. i still cry whenever i think of Ayodele trying to cover Heath Miller.
