This last weekend I watched the Charger Raven game and breakout player of the week on the Chargers was Vincent Jackson a 6"5 WR. This guy goes up and gets the ball and my only guess would be Sean Smith tries to lock him down this week.
Rivers is sure to throw a bunch and im exited to see how the rookie shows up.

I think the match up of the week swings back to the opponents TE. First Gonzalez beat us, then Clark killed us, now Gates. We've got to figure out a defensive game plan to effectively cover the middle of the field.

Well we have proved we dont really have anyone to match up with Gates... that doesnt seem compelling to me.:chuckle:

And we don't have anyone who can cover the speedy Sproles out of the backfield.

Watch on NFL.com how they repeatedly killed the falcons first team defense on screens during preseason. It was the third PS game when starters play more. They had like 150 yards on screens against the Falcons in the first half. The Chargers are an excellent screen team, and are great at passing to RB's out of the backfield.

Sproles killed the Raiders and the Ravens on screens too.

We were killed on screens in pre season, we can't stop fast guys like Sproles coming out of there. He catches a pass in space, and our defense is toast.

If they can't catch Dallas Clark, they have no chance at catching the lightning quick Sproles over the middle, or Gates.

Gates and Sproles are going to have a field day against our LB's and safeties over the middle.

Remember that in our game last year against the Chargers, Gates was playing hurt.. This year he is 100% healthy and he looks great out there. He looks so much faster on the field compared to last year when he was playing with an injury.

I saw the entire Baltimore-San Diego game. And the guys that should terrify you are Sproles and Gates, not Jackson ( we have guys that can do a better job against Jackson).

I'm actually pretty confident that Smith will keep Jackson in check. I think Smith matches up well against the bigger receivers.

I watched that game as well....
I know we have no one to match up with Gates or Sproles so thats not much of a matchup I picked one where actually have a chance to stop.
I didnt put it because I think its the most important...

Simple fix up will for our defense to confuse offense by moving players before the snap. Wont completely change our defense but will certainly help.

If I am Miami I would almost come out and play nickel or dime. They aren't going to run Sproles up the middle too often, and SD is missing 2 starters off the O Line. They came up with the Wildcat to get their best offensive players on the field at the same time, so the matchup this week may be best suited to do the same, and I would argue that our back up DBs are better than our starting ILBs.

Absolutely. I would at least play nickel to start the game. Vontae Davis is a good tackler anyway.

They should have played nickel to start last week, and just line up a corner on Clark. Have someone jam him at the line and have the corner follow his a$$ all over the field.

What we need to do Sunday is just put Sean Smith alone on Vincent Jackson 1-on-1.. With no safety help.. Smith can handle it.. We need the safeties to worry about others underneath. We gave the safeties too much responsibility last week.. We need to simple it down for them to get their confidence back on track.

Im really curious as to why we kept letting Clark burn the same guys over and over why we didnt throw Vonte or Culver of even Nate Jones on him for awhile
