I'm a grad student at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he played and started one year (after sitting for three behind one of our better QBs in recent years).
I think the general consensus was that he was a tough kid, stood in the pocket and took a lot of hits after getting his throws off, and basically performed admirably for a guy who hadn't taken many meaningful snaps in the previous three years. He seemed to have an above average arm at that level, but I was still surprised when I heard he'd made an NFL squad.
I'm happy that Matt's been able to make some money and have an NFL experience, but I'll still be surprised if he rises above #3 QB on ours or any depth chart.
