I like the kid. Hope we can put him on practice squad. Btw, why draft him in the sixth and then cut him. I liked what i saw and heard off him

Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson were both coming off of knee injuries. Jarvis Landry is a rookie. Rishard Matthews had been having some problems with focus and practice habits, according to basically everyone who covers the team.

My guess is that he's going to go on the practice squad and be developed as WR depth for when the team parts ways with Hartline, Gibson, or Wallace.

Hoping he won't get snatched off the ps, I think he could be developed

This is why you don't forget to build on a strength. It makes everyone even better.

I made the point yesterday that if Lazor and Philbin's intent all along was to hide Hazel on the PS after seeing what he could do in practices, it was just dumb, especially after spending a pick on him, to put him out there for more than a few plays and provide other teams with a showcase of what he was capable of, even with a crap QB.

Yep, I thought for sure they were keeping him on the roster after that show he put on. Damian Williams has been great, but as a #6 option I just wasn't sure he was worth keeping over Hazel.

Ideally though, you wanted Hazel on the PS for a year and hopefully that still happens.

why does everybody assume that the 6th wr will never play, i think its highly likely that someone gets hurt and you need that guy

In this O I assume the 6 will get some situational playing time. Really hard to keep anybody in that role other than Williams though. He played real well this preseason.

With Hazels speed, and Wallace's contract (and lack of chemistry with RT on the deep throws) I think Wallace is on the bubble next year unless RT and Wallace get it together.

It's actually not an assumption. I think more than anything he is going to be used in the return game and that made his value increase, especially when the team decided to get rid of Thigpen.

This is a moot point if the team believes they can get Hazel on the PS, however if Hazel ends up getting claimed, I would of rather had him as the #6 guy instead of Damian Williams. He's your draft pick, you are guaranteed to have him for 4 years at a cheap price . . . there are a lot of benefits to keeping Hazel over Damian Williams despite Damian really impressing this preseason. Odds are, as a WR, Damian won't see much of the field, probably none of it in a WR role w/o an injury or 2.

Me too. I think they'll keep him on the PS if nobody goes for him.
