Wasn't he a pretty good center/guard?

Might not be a bad idea to bring him in.

Not happy about the middleton cut. He was the one lineman this preseason that pancacked DL's.

Oh well, I guess he couldn't get in shape.

Middleton slowed down as the preseason went on and looked tired as the games went on. He wasnt in shape. I thought O'Dwyer was a good lineman and might actually be a decent pick up...anyone have info on him?

O'Dwyer signed as an UFA with the Packers this off-season. he was handed the starting guard position and showed nothing. he stunk it up in GB. forget about him.

I wouldn't mind picking him up, i suppose it would be good for the depth. But i dont see it immidiatley impacting our o-line and making us THAT much better at that spot, i think we might as well just stick with what we have and see if it can hold up.

You are probably right. The thing to realize about all of these cuts being made now is that these guys werent good enough to make it past the first round of cuts for their respective teams, meaning they probably arent that good. What we have to look for are the cap cut casualties...guys who play well but had to be cut for cap reasons (like Kendall last year before the Jets grabbed him). The only downside to getting those players though is that we would now have to take a cap hit.

Only if they are waived. If they are cut, then a new contract is negotiated.

Why the eyeroll schleprock? I thought this was actually one of the more reasonable threads recently. We are in need of o-line help and a lineman who is fairly well known just became available. I think its much better than the trade madison for a qb thread that now has about 100 responses lol.

Very good point, thanks. However, even if they are cut for cap reasons they usually want about as much money as they were making with their other team.

I would say no, I would rather find a young guy that needs some work but got caught in a numbers game, then an old fart that is on the decline!

That's just one old farts thoughts!

Matt O'Dwyer has alot of miles on him. At this point, I think Seth is every bit a good and quite a bit cheaper.

Well, what you're saying is very true, but you also have to look at the team and the numbers in that position...an example would be if, instead of the trade we made today, we release Brendan Abendjeyo (sp)...he's a decent support LB, but we have a glut of LBs...

That said, I don't think that GB is loaded with OL, particularly guards...therefore, there must be another reason why he was released...injury or just plain poor play...

Cause anyone who does 10 seconds of research would know he's old and been very injured for the past 2 seasons. This was a 'comeback' attempt that failed miserably in Green Bay.
