Hello,

I read many post here, where dolfan think matt roth will be cut.

I desagree.

don't forget 2 things :

1/ his first year in dolfin uniform was good

2/ he played hurt all last season long if I'am right.

3/ he could play DE or OLB in a parcells system IMO.

so I think holliday or wirght are more possible cut target but not roth.

JMO.

I think they will try to keep him, but as a situational player. He is very talented contrary to what people think, but his talent lies in rushing the passer. He was never really the strongest player when it comes to stopping the run or tying up linemen, so as to why he was slotted in that position by previous regimes is beyond me. The fact they did that is what really has contributed to the notion that he is a bust and I just feel if he went to a different team that played a scheme that fit his talents he would be very successful. With any hope there is still time to save him valuewise to this team and Sparano can find somewhere that he can fit in and excel.

The worst thing Saban and his regime did was bulk Roth up to look like a rolly polly chubby kid and put him at DT, then a 3-4 DE.

Matt should be leaned out and ripped right now (about 245-250lbs) and placed as an outside LB. Unfortunately I think it's way too late for that though. If Saban would have done this from the beginning I think Roth could have been a poor man's Kevin Greene.

Agreed!

I think most people like Roth for whatever reason and want to believe that he will be great. However, he will be pushed to make the team.

Picture this; Matt Roth trying to cover ( insert any NFL running back here) in the flat. My problem with Roth is watching the first game last year and seeing a tight end come in motion and stop and block Roth, and OWN him, on several occasions. I'm pretty sure Parcells saw that tape too, and that's why we draft not 1 but 2 ...3-4 type DE's. I'd be surprised if Roth makes the team this year. To me R. Wright is the probable starter, not one of the cuts, based on what I saw last year on the field.

Roth better produce VERY quickly or he is out.

Short arms little productions too slow and stiff to play LB.

Yes he is intense and has a good motor but little else so far.

I see him as a marginal starter and a career backup.

-- This was Dom Capers doing this last year, not Saban. When Roth was drafted, he was called a "tweener" because of his small weight. They said he could play DE and Linebacker and eventually replace Jason Taylor. I guess the sights were too high.

Roth is ok as a 4-3 DE. He's 6'5". We'll wait and see if he'll make the team this year.

Roth is too small for a DE in a 3-4. His only shot would be OLB and I don't see him being fast enough. IF he lost 20 lbs maybe that helps but he seems best fit for a DE in a 4-3. He'll get a chance because he is cheap and I'm sure works hard. I just don't see the fit and after drafting 2 more DE's I don't see him as a DE here.

He will get cut like fat back my brother.

Poor Matt Roth, I just hope he doesn't read the posts on this site because he's been getting hammered for what seems like 10 years already.

IMO he still has potential to be developed properly, and if this staff can't find that potential real soon and get the production they want...he's facing a LOT of competition...

Roth is a goner!

He's a 4-3 guy and would never excel in that scheme, he's a horrible fit anywhere in a 3-4 scheme... I do like Rod Wright, I think he could spell Vonnie and has a great 3-4 DE frame... Keep Wright, rid of Roth...
