I didn't see enough games to know how he's doing but his stats suck so can someone fill me in

I saw he was out there for at least one play today. He hasn't done much of anything this season. Hopefully he improves next season.

People can sit and say all they want about adjusting, needs time, etc. However, I think until he shows anything more he looks like simply a career NFL role player and nothing else.

They have two many quality veteran D-Lineman for Matt Roth to get in much. With Bowens and Zgonina in the rotation, plus the starters, he will have it tough. Next year, when half of those vets are gone, he will get more significant playing time, along with Manny Wright.

if he can't beat out david bowens he didn't merit a second round pick nevermind pat surtain (i know salary cap blah blah)

Kyle Orton may not have beat Ferotte out to start the season but he sure looks like a better choice then Roth at this point. Will we every have a Offensive minded coach?

David Bowens is a quality backup. He had 8 sacks last year in a starting role, and had a sack today.

Ummm.. Matt Roth plays the 5 technique End in Saban's defense putting behind Kevin Carter on the depth chart. I have heard Saban is talking about moving him to Seau's position in the 3-4 or maybe guessing, moving him to Under Tackle in the future, where he would have to beat out Holliday and Zgonina. The hastiness of the evaluations are maddening! Not many 2nd rounders are blowin' up quite yet. The only exception I see is Odell Thurman, who was picked after Roth. Although, I'd much rather have Crowder who is stronger and bigger than Thurman which is good for our D.

David Bowens is an Open End, which slots him behind JT. So ask yourself, should Roth replace Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holliday? If you answer yes, please state your case because I'd love to hear it!

David Bowens and Matt Roth are playing completely different roles. Matt Roth is being asked to play the same kind of role as Kevin Carter, Vonnie Holliday, etc. He is primarily playing as a run-stuffer.

David Bowens is playing a strictly pass-rushing role. He is only in on nickel and dime packages, lined up outside the tackle and being asked to provide an upfield rush.

also, david bowens isn't that bad of a player. people should remember that also.
