Here are some comments from the pros

"I thought it was impressive, but it didn't leave me spell-bound," one club's college scouting director told me afterward. "The kid was accurate, and had good feet, with an above average arm. Not a great arm. But definitely above average. The one thing of concern was that his ball was wobbling a bit. But even though his ball wobbled, his passes were still right on target. So you can't kill the kid on that. He solidified his place I think. He looked pretty good."

"He moves around better than people think," Spielman told a small gathering of reporters. "And I think his arm strength is plenty good enough. And I like where he places the ball. He's what you call an anticipatory thrower. He has a good sense for where to put it.''

But a source close to the situation told me Ryan will conduct private workouts for at least five teams, all of whom pick in the draft's top eight: No. 1 Miami, No. 3 Atlanta, No. 5 Kansas City, the No. 6 Jets, and No. 8 Baltimore. One of those five is going to come away with Ryan, because the top eight's other three members -- No. 2 St. Louis, No. 4 Oakland and No. 7 New England -- aren't in the market for starting quarterbacks.

"Those Boston College receivers that he was throwing to, there's not a lot of talent there,'' he said. "It tells me that Matt Ryan must be a pretty impressive leader, a pretty impressive kid to have won 11 games this year with some mediocre talent around him. And that's taking into account those receivers and those linemen. They weren't much. To win 11 games in the ACC, which is a pretty good league, he must be a pretty good kid and a pretty good quarterback.

In what reality is the ACC considered a " good league " these days? The SEC, Pac 10, Big 10, and Big 12 were all better contenders, top to bottom, than the SEC.

Reading this, which you have posted to support your stance on drafting Ryan makes him even more of a wasted pick with the 1st. What did anyone say in that write up that made you think Ryan will be anything special. Nobody was even wowed by the kid throwing a ball in the friendliest environment. Above average arm - was that it, wobbley throws, he was accurate - I sure hope so!!!! or was it he moved well - well let's get C.Lemon back then cause he certainly moved well.I don't see it and I don't understand what you possible see either.

This is merely an informative piece for your reading pleasure. I havent stated any of the reasons why he should be chosen in this thread. Unlike some, i left in the good with the bad

Speilman sucked with us but I will trade our draft for his draft last year anyday. He drafted three good starters, a damn good dlineman and a good special teams player.

ACC is a good conference just some of the top teams have been down. But top to bottom with the exception of Duke any given team has been very good.

Well what was the good that makes someone want to draft him 1st overall?

Reading this and it can only take a "blind hater" to not notice the similiarities to Tom Brady all over Matt Ryan. These are the "exact", "clone-like", "carbon-copy" characteristics/measureables of Tom Brady.

This year, I don't see BP doing what many teams did "that" year, when Brady came out.

U see the same things in Matt Ryan that Tom Brady shows...great leader, great intangibles, great measureables, better than people expect athlete, great "vision", "above average" arm(although not a Jamarcus Russell arm, but above average as in a Tom Brady arm), ....

Look at the game tape....and u see why he is the #1 rated passer in the draft and a top pick worthy QB as mike mayock has stated.

The kid "must" be "that" good, if u are going to rate him "consensusly" by "all" experts as the best QB in a class with an arm like Joe Flacco!!! Flacco's arm is in the "great" arm level as is Carlson Palmer...but Ryan's arm is in the "above average" level as is Tom Brady.

"vision" matters the most...."vision" is Matt Ryan's "STRONGEST" point.

Arm strength is "plenty good enough" which was one of the questions going into his proday. He was more mobile than people expected and he he was highly accurate on the move. He made every throw necessary. Add in all the things we already knew about him, he's a winner, he's got prototypical size, he's a winner that can make those around him better than they are and that's pretty much the reason to draft him although I'm sure I'm missing out on a few other easons why he should be drafted. Oh yeah he's MR Intangible  Noone has seen intangibles like his since Bernie Kosar. His intangibles are barely enormous

You know I am one of the few people that put alot of our screwups on the coaches head and not his. I think he got a bad rap here. Its too early to say yet but I think he's better than people want to give him credit for

I wouldn't exactly compare Ryan's anything to Brady, but that is me. Brady is a special QB who also ended up in a great situation.

IMO, 19 interceptions doesn't speak very well of his vision. I understand he supposedly didn't have great talent surrounding him in college but neither did alot of other QBs and they didn't put up 19 interceptions.

Cutler only threw 9 interceptions his senior year and I don't think he had better talent surrounding him than Ryan did at BC.

In the end, none of that matters much. Ryan will get a shot, probably not with the Dolphins, and he will be able to show what he is made of.
