Schaub is in ESPN the mag, in the NEXT section (NEXT star).
After stepping in for Vick a couple of times, this guy has played pretty good. Maybe the FINS should ask about this guy, maybe for a 3rd round pick or something. This guy has some value to the ATL now, that VICK is slowly starting to stick badly. VICK is the BIGGEST CLOWN, SIDE SHOW in the NFL.
Schaub is good.:dolphins:

Only problem is alot of teams are interested which makes his value go up. Also the Falcons know the importance of a quality backup QB so they probably will ask for more than a 3rd rounder.

While we are all entitled to our own opinon, we are also entitled to disagree. Vick is still the sickest athelete to wear an NFL uniform. The beauty of football unlike any other sport, is that you are only as good as your team. We know this because we had the best QB ever, for 17 years, and we went to the Superbowl ONCE. For a QB, you are only as good as your WRs. True Vick, still hasn't matured as a passer, but if he had a decent, consistant reciever who could handle some of those rockets, he'd change your opinon.

However, I have been watching Schaub since his rookie season, and he is the real deal. He reminds me of Hasslebeck. So if we could get him for a 3, which I doubt, that would be gangsta..

So then what? We draft D'Brickashaw Furguson with our first pick???

Schaub has done one very important thing this year for the Falcons. He has proven he can handle things when/if Vick is injured. Given Vick's playing style, I would be surprised if they wanted to part with him. All Vick has proven is that he will be dinged and injured a lot during his career. They have to have a reliable backup and Schaub has fit that bill.

Schaub's negative for us is that all he has ever known, scheme wise is the WCO...both in college and the pros. History has shown us that WCO qbs have a hard time adjusting to other schemes...(Garcia, AJ Feeley, Rattay)...

I don't see Atlanta wanting to trade Schaub....he's too needed in the organization and is cheap for them to keep right now....perhaps when he is due to be a RFA or UFA, but not now...

Vick?

what receiver wants to go to the ATL. they will never get the ball, the stats. Vick is run first, throw second. he sacrifices his body to much as a QB. he won't last in this league much longer. i wouldn't be surprised if ATL trades him in the near future. he's a side show, a freak show, a highlight, a top selling jersey, but never a superbowl champion. in my opinion.

There was a thread last week about the same thing. A newspaper article suggested the Falcons would trade Schaub for a 2nd. I think he is worth a 2nd myself he has looked good in real NFL action. We are talking about drafting Croyle in the 2nd why not have a guy that has already shown he can play. He is only 2 years removed from college so he is still very young.

That too is true. What do they do to QB's in that system? Brainwashing?

this guy stepped in this year and stunk.

I could actually see Atlanta trading Matt because he has only one year left on his contract and will walk next year to sign a deal with another team anyway leaving the falcons with no compensation. Makes more sense to get somthing for him now IMO, I just am not sure he would be a good fit for us because of being a pure West Coast guy to this point. He is worth a 2nd to someone that runs the west coast though IMO.

Off topic a bit, but....

4 round mock draft (2/3):
1st round pick: Winston Justice OT USC
2nd round pick: Richard Marshall CB Fresno St.
3rd round pick: Charlie Whithurst QB Clemson
4th round pick: Cameron Vaughn OLB LSU

....I REALLY like your mock draft!

Schaub started 1 game and did very well against the NE Patriots. IMO, that doesn't make him a star. You're taking a big risk in making a move like this. Let's not make the same mistake we made a couple years ago when we traded for a QB who played quite well in 5 starts winning 4 of them. I'd have to see a little more before I give up anything more than a 4th or 5th round draft pick.

Might be, they did a fantastic job on AJ...LOL

At any rate the WCO is basically a spread the field, no QB presnap reads because he's getting rid of the ball quickly on every play. They have predetermined routes and the recievers and backs need to be on the same page as the QB....
