ESPN's John Clayton reports the Raiders have entered trade talks with the Lions concerning backup quarterback Josh McCown.
McCown has a big arm and is more mobile than Andrew Walter, but isn't regarded as a smart QB that's normally preferred in the West Coast attack coordinator Greg Knapp brought from Atlanta. If they can swing a deal for McCown, quarterback becomes a less pressing need at the top of the draft.

Also looks to me tthat the fins should call them about seeing what they could get for CP, specially if they are looking at Josh McCown

Doube they would bite on Culpepper's salary and coming of from injury.

I bet you Culpepper might be willing to renegotiate, to try and revive his career by bombing it to Moss

That just opens the door for Det. to get Quinn. Kitna is not the long term answer in Det. He would mentor Quinn 1 year, then Quinn takes over.

McCown isn;t the answer for Oakland. They would still Take Quinn or Russel and use Mc as a mentor.

This trade really has little to no effect on the draft should it go through. Even with the QB crisis in Oakland McCown likely would still be a backup. And obviously both these teams draft ahead of us, so if Oakland acquires McCown that leaves a hole at QB on the Lions, so I don't see this potential trade effecting anyone but the two teams involved.

I could be wrong, but i have a strong feeling that 2 of the top 3 teams in the draft will take QB. I hope Im wrong, but thats my feelings about the chances of getting Quinn.

If I were the GM's of these teams, this is how I would draft them, without any biases whatsoever of course:

Raiders - CJ = best player in draft "period"
Detroit - Thomas = best OL in draft, fills need and solidifies Offense
Cleveland - Peterson = best player left, fills need, and will make most impact in rookie season of all offensive picks

This would open the whole draft if it happened!!!

that's how i would do it as well.

I think it will go
OR: CJ
DL: Quinn
CB: Russell
I think he meant, that he thinks as do I, that it should go that way, not that he or i thinks it will go that way.

I personally dont think it will go CJ, Thomas, Peterson, in that order. But I think the value lies in that order or at the least those three at the top. I think that the Raiders would be crazy to pass on CJ and the Browns would be crazy to pass on Peterson.

But...your probably right on here, they probably will not go like that, and will more likely go in some fashion as you said.

I never said that's how I thought it should go, merely that I thought it would go like that. If I was the GM I would draft exactly like I think it's going to go.
