The treatment has gained notice in the past year after Pittsburgh receiver Hines Ward used it on his sprained right knee to help him play in the Steelers' Super Bowl win over Arizona in February.

Canty

During the 30-minute procedure, a tube of a patient's blood is taken and put it in a centrifuge and spun, producing concentrated platelets, which contain growth factors that accelerate tissue repair and regeneration.

The platelets are then injected into the injury site.

That is, if he's really trying to get back onto the football field....

Maybe try those two little golden capsules from clean green New Zealand?

I am no doctor, but that sounds like Cancer waiting to happen. Chances are Ward is probably safer eating AIDS on a stick.
nah, i would guess that if the process could weird cells out enough to prevent apoptosis it would've been easily detected and it sounds much too innocuous to break up dna. also, you could eat live hiv if it didn't hit oxygen but you can't eat a syndrome.

Exactly what I thought and I'm glad they circulated the article to include phins.com and the rest of the league. Articles like that are way more interesting and pragmatic than all the speculation pieces put together.

BTW- I'm glad I chose this site to contribute to, after looking at all the rest, somebody's always quick to react with mentally stimulating commentary(and somebody's always making me laugh).:thanks:

Maybe, now that he's missed this much training camp, it does not matter. I think T.S. is one PO'ed coach at Roth's integrity, and may find himself on the outside looking in.

Platelets don't have a nucleus (and therefore no DNA), so they can't replicate and form a tumor. Essentially, they're just sacs of various substances (most of which have to do with blood clotting), some of which may provide regenerative signals to other tissues. None of the growth factors they have appear to be oncogenes either, but like the article said, the treatment is still experimental and in the end, you might be right. This kind of stuff is very en vogue right now and quite frankly, the science behind it doesn't quite back up the speed to which it is being brought to clinical trials.

My uncle went through a similar procedure . Allegedly to treat Cancer. It turned out be a fraud. The feds came in and shut the whole clinic down. The only difference it made was $14,000 less in his will.
