There's also an interview with NFL network draft guru Mike Mayock, who attempts to break down the 2009 draft.

Mayock presently has Northern Illinois hybrid linebacker Larry English penciled in as the Dolphins' No. 25 pick. Considering all the free agent moves the Dolphins have made, all the holes they've already filled, and English's strong showing at the Senior Bowl, this pick fits.

At 6'2 and 274 I think he is a bit undersize for a Parcells defense OLB. He looks shorter than 6'2 and I quite frankly think Parcells would rather draft Clay Matthews who is 6'3 and has a longer frame and seems more NFL ready.

I'll tell you one thing English can dominate a game. Check out the video

He actually weighed in at 255

I dont like the fact he is 6'2, he looks very stocky and short. I want a guy atleast 6'3 or 6'4 with a long arm frame.

Larry English (6-2, 257), Northern Illinois - English was a sack machine in college. He recorded 31.5 quarterback takedowns and eight forced fumbles at Northern Illinois. While he bench pressed 225 pounds 24 times, English did not help his draft stock when he ran below a 4.87 time in the 40-yard dash. Scouts were expecting the undersized English to run much faster than that. English did put his athleticism on display by posting a 36-inch vertical, which was the sixth best of the defensive linemen. The good news is English, who could play on the line in a 4-3 or linebacker in a 3-4, plays much faster on film, and his disappointing 40-yard dash time could actually make him available to the Bucs at 19 in the first round.

I love how he takes over games, but at 6'2 his height really bothers me. Maybe in the second, but in the first I dont think so. Especially after running a 4.87.

How would Clay Matthews be better?

Because I dont see Matthews as a dominent OLB from what Ive seen of him. He has a great engine and attitude, but ability wise I dont see 1st round material. But would like to know why you guys think he is?

Just the film i have seen of him play. i think he plays into our system well. English is too one demensional.

eh ,

Let' s see how the KID run on his pro-Day
I read that the added weight actually slowed him down a bit
(projected 4.7 and ran a 4.9. 40 dash)

Lindy's Pro Football Draft Magazine just came out and they also have us taking English in the fist round. They have us taking a Cornerback from UConn in the 2nd (sorry I can't remember his name), and Robiskie, WR, Ohio State with our 2nd rounders.

I could live with the Butler pick but I would be pissed if we took English and Robiskie with those picks.
