It looks like it's coming down to a two horse race between both Philbin and McCoy, with McCoy appearing to lead the charge. We've all gotten a rough idea of who we think Philbin could bring with him, the likes of Tom Clements, Winston Moss, etc. But I haven't heard much about what kind of a staff McCoy would assemble. Generally I don't like a HC doubling as a playcaller, so any idea of who he would bring in at OC? In the event of Bowles winding up somewhere else, which I find unlikely, think he'll end up coaching our defense with AC title.

Kind of happy to see Nolan go, really seemed to struggle adjusting his pass defense to the new NFL resulting in watching the same 3rd down defense I feel like we've had since the early 2000s. Lastly, I'd be happy to have McCoy leading the charge, young guy, very articulate, makes great adjustments (don't think I've ever seen such a good in season adjustment to such a polarizing "talent") and he just looks the part (I know people don't really buy that but I want my coach to look like a leader, it's just psychological), Philbin doesn't look like a leader of men, nor does Carmichael, and nor did Cam Cameron by any stretch of the imagination.

So who do you think is likely to come aboard this staff in the event McCoy is hired?

Hey here's an interesting idea. What about Chad Pennington for qb coach or offensive coordinator? Definitely not a yes man and his leadership and smarts are unquestioned. I think Boyles would stay as defensive coordinator.

He worked in Carolina with mccoy, so del rio as DC would make a lot of sense

I think that if McCoy could bring Del Rio with him, I would actually feel pretty good about the hire. Del Rio definitely had big flaws as a head coach, but his defense was real ****ing mean year in and year out.

From Del Rio's wiki page:

"Del Rio began his coaching career with the New Orleans Saints in 1997 as the Strength and Conditioning coach. In 1999, he accepted a position with the Baltimore Ravens as their linebackers coach. He is in part credited for the success of the Ravens' defense, particularly the 2000 Ravens' defense. After the 2001 season, he was named defensive coordinator of theCarolina Panthers. In his first season as defensive coordinator, he led them to the second best defense in the league that season."

He would be a good fit for DC, does anyone know what kind of defence he runs?

McCoy would def. go after a big name as far as the DC is concerned, who's to say Ireland isn't selling him on Bowles as DC.

The word on Del Rio was people there did not like his work ethic. He was last in and first out. As the Head coach. come on

I don't give a flying f*%k who we hire as coordinators if we hire McCoy. Might as well hire me. Seriously I'll be pissed and stop watching for a few years.

With these *** hats running the show, it will be a long time until we are a good franchise again.

GUSHCOW: this is what happens when you have ONE legitimate pass rusher, who only has one move and db's who cant cover their guys long enough for a bltz to get to the qb.

he was limited by what he could do. you can coach and throw out schemes all you want but if your db's cant cover anyone for any real length of time, your doomed!!

and who coached this great secondary? TODD BOWLES? and the secondary is the worst rated unit of our defense. bottom portion of the nfl. same with the other two teams secondary's he coached, all at the bottom of the nfl.

so, how is he the answer to our defense? you think mike nolan was a bad DC? you wait untill you see the todd bowles show.

IN ANSWER TO MCCOYS STAFF: there is no mike mccoys staff. jeff ireland was given COMPLETE controll over personell so it who will IRELANDS staff be, not mike mccoy's. heres what it will look like, a portion anyways................ .

DC: it will be yer boy, TODD BOWLES and he will retain his assistant h/c title. he is only here because he is a bill parcells guy, just like ireland and sparano and they all came here together. ireland believes in the "bills guys" way and will keep him around. bummer.

OC: BRIAN DABOL. he was picked by ireland himself. ireland is the guy who hires and fires all personell, he would never want anyone to think his choice was wrong and therefore, he will keep him on. elementary my dear watson! elementary. and it might not be that bad. dabolls offense seemed to benefit matt moore and brandon marshall and mccoy has coached both of them with SUCCESS so it MAY be the smart choice.

the rest could all just be the same with only a couple spots like qb coach being a need.

The Jags always played dirty. Del Rio seems like a real sob. I wouldn't be thrilled with that hire. I'd rather promote Bowles.
