McDaniel on the hot seat

I bet a lot of players hate how soft McDaniel is but love the soft practices and club med atmosphere that he provides. Both can be true. So when I say that certain players probably hate playing for McDaniel it means they probably know his style of coaching won't ever get the team to a Super Bowl. Plus the team never looks prepared to play against good teams. That is a direct reflection of his coaching and the players are well aware of that.

You don’t know that for sure. There could be quite a few players who like him. So that is pure speculation on your part.

Ya but Fangio wasn't here last year and Ramsey still was so there is more to it than that. Ya he might have hated Fangio but he ended up hating McDaniel too. Otherwise he would still be on the team this upcoming season. And as far as what McDaniel has done he still has no playoff wins and is 3-13 against winning teams. Not good at all! Everybody has a hard on for him because of what he has done with the offense but that same offense doesn't show up against good teams. He keeps getting outcoached in those games. The team has been as soft as Charmin since he has been the head coach. He is fools gold!
Most success I seen as a dolphin fan in last 25 years were 2022 2023. I been a fan since 1984 so I seen good and bad. I don’t get the hate for him and Tua after how bad we been since 2002. I just don’t.

I got the hate for saban Cameron Philbin especially. Gase and Flores.

this will piss the haters off but I honestly believe if Tua plays against colts titans and hawks. We win 2 of those and are in playoffs. 3 years in the playoffs im a row ! Damn it feels like the mod 90s again . And both 90s teams and this team I well aware are not good enough to win the whole things

I do blame McDaniel for the backup qb situation. So missing the playoffs last year is on him.

If he misses playoffs thus year or Tua gets hurt again. I wlll be on your side. But I just can’t now because. I really enjoyed 2022 2023 compared to all the others. I get it’s not good enough. It’s not. But as a fan since 1984 I have come to conclusion it’s never going to be much better. I am at the point of just making playoffs right now is much better than what I seen from this organization. Not trying to argue with you though. I get it’s not good enough. You are right. But it’s best I seen in so long. lol.

Now Greir ? Ya I think he had enough time
I don’t mind his draft picks. But I hate
How he had no vision or identity except to go along with whatever the head coaches want.
I also don’t like how he handles contracts.

Just because I'm not a billionaire doesn't change the fact that Ross has not been a successful NFL owner, when it comes to success on the field. So we aren't allowed to criticize the coaches, players or owner when we don't believe they are getting the job done? I guess this site is just here for everyone to agree and praise everything the team does?
Nah. You’re free to piss into the wind as much as your heart desires.

Because that’s about all the good bitching about changing a billionaire owner is for.

I hear tell asparagus gives it an interesting aroma … might wanna give it a try if the usual gets stale. ;)

True, if this season is a failure and Ross brings the whole crew back for 2026 I most likely won't be posting much here. I will still be a fan of the team but certainly won't be spending much of my time and money on the team.

Myself, being a fan since the early '70s, can also say I've seen the good and the bad (and that bad now far outweighs the good...its wasn't that way for decades). And I can also say that "success" in 2022/2023 was a facade. Those teams in the 80s/90s looked the part. They had an aura that said they could beat any given team, any given day. This team was lucky (or unlucky, depending on your perspective) to get into the playoffs two years in a row. Based on their performance in said playoffs, they overachieved.

The 2022/2023 rendition feasted on weak teams, and flopped against good teams. That's not opinion, its recorded fact.

They were a facade, and it starts and stems from the fraudulent HC strolling the sidelines (looking lost many times, especially when trying to get a play in after the previous play went badly). IMO, he's nowhere near being capable of being a successful HC.

You owe me a cup .of coffee. I just spit it all over my floor laughing. That was funny. 😅

It’s also pure speculation to think everybody likes him!

No it isn’t!

We talked about this a couple of days ago. The annual NFLPA player survey has had McDaniel rated as one of the top coaches in the league BY HIS PLAYERS every year he’s been with the team.

You can say you don’t believe the results or that what they really mean is that they like “soft practices” but actually hate him as a coach.

Maybe you’re right but you are inferring this from things like the Ramsey situation or comments from Poyer and Eliot.

And this is speculation.

Wrong! If you think all 53 players on the roster like him then are you delusional. I don't care what the annual NFLPA player survey says because it could mean he runs a soft training camp. So no I don't believe everyone on the team likes him or is coaching style.

How is it wrong?!?!

I’ve got 3 years of evidence of players being asked to rate their coaches. In each of those years McDaniel receives some of the highest marks in the league.

The most sensible interpretation of that data is that he is consistently well-regarded by his players.

Your interpretation requires you to read the data in a counter intuitive way (they rate him highly because he prepares them badly for games or they are actually not telling the truth).

You might be correct but I don’t think you can prove it and it’s suspicious that your view of what the players think aligns exactly with your own prejudices.

No where you are wrong is to think every single player on the Dolphins likes McDaniel and that simply isn't true. I bet certain players don't like him at all. Now they might be in the minority but you make it seem like every player likes him.

But that’s an absurd standard to hold any coach or manager to.

I don’t think I said literally every player likes McDaniel, just that the only data we have suggests that enough of the players rate him sufficiently highly that he at the top of the rankings every year.

I also don’t care if serial malcontents like Ramsey and Hill don’t like him and I’m looking forward to the day they’re both off the team.

I hope McDaniel - as a young coach - continues to learn from these experiences but I am not at all worried about his ability to build good relationships with the players.

Everything about this off-season says we are playing for next year, especially if we are looking to trade away Jonnu. It doesn't feel like Grier and McD are fighting to save their jobs
Let’s see what they do with the secondary. That will be telling as well. Not handing out any big extensions any more? Other than Zack seiler, I’m good with it. That hasn’t turned out so well, Ramsey, reek, etc.

And if they have a bad season this year he needs to be gone!

They overachieved based on their performance in the playoffs?

Against the Bills, in Buffalo, with their 7th string rookie QB, and scrubs all over due to injury, they barely lost to the Bills by 3 points.

Against KC, in Tua’s first postseason game, in KC, and -20F they were beaten by a KC team who then went on to win against the Bills, in Buffalo, and the Ravens, in Baltimore. Then went on to win the SB. Based upon the Bills and Ravens play did they overachieve?
