In this week Peter King article

Aug. 8: A day after leaving the team to have his aching back examined, Hallen calls Crennel to tell him his heart, too, isn't in it. He, too, retires. Savage talks with the Dolphins about backup center Seth McKinney and believes he can make a deal for McKinney if need be. He puts the deal on hold to see what else he can do. Depth chart: Ephraim, Smith, Mabry.

Aug. 9: Savage is interested in Eagles backup Hank Fraley, but two phone calls to the Eagles aren't returned. (Philly wouldn't have traded Fraley anyway; the Eagles don't know if presumed starter Jamaal Jackson will make it through the season healthy, and Fraley is cheap insurance if he doesn't win the job.) So the Browns trade a conditional pick to New England for versatile offensive lineman Ross Tucker. Depth chart: Ephraim, Smith, Tucker, Mabry.

Aug. 10: In the team's first preseason game, at Philadelphia, the center who might have been having the best camp of anyone at the position, Smith, a rookie free agent from Tennessee, suffers a high ankle sprain. He's out at least two weeks. Depth chart: Ephraim, Tucker, Mabry.

Aug. 11: The Browns learn the McKinney option with Miami is dead. McKinney has undergone season-ending back surgery after being hurt in practice earlier in the week.

I wonder what we have received for him. A 4th rounder??

Nah, maybe a 5th. I know they're desperate and all but McKinney isn't worthy of a high or even a mid-round pick in my opinion.

Our depth is not that great on the O-line so I don't see Saban trading him for anything lower than a 5th but I still believe it was a 4th

Darn, I bet we could have gotten a bag of footballs and a kicking tee for him too.

My guess is that Savage would have offered Suggs instead of a draft pick. It would have been interesting to see what our doctors might have said.

I'm surprised that he would have been on the trading block at all.

Our OL depth is an issue.
In addition, it's not only the depth, it's the starting guard and Center position that are an issue as well.

Anderson is having trouble and Hadnot hasn't exactly tore it up at Center yet. Yes it's still preseason but none-the-less both bring valid concerns and questions at this point.

These issues make a guy like Mckinney that you know can play both positions untradeable IMO.

He would still fail the physicial.

I know I am the minority but I have never disliked Seth McKinney. If not a tallented player, a hard nosed, blue collar kind of worker. He is also the vocal leader of the offensive line. Its true, he has the stigma of his 2004 performance but in 2005 he played as well as anybody, and against Buffalo he was nonstop, even with a busted chin and blood flowing everywhere.

if we trade Seth

If we trade Seth we won't get that good of a trade but we could get someone that could help us be a good team.
