Is it just me or is anyone else baffled by how little we use McMike..
He is usually a mismatch in coverage in his favour, and it seems like Linehan doesnt draw up enough play action to him.... Why don't we use him as much as San Deigo Targets Gates..... they establish a run game with LT.. And give Gates like 10 passes a game plus!

:drinkers: Show Randy a Little LOVE!!

Randy McMichael could very well be the league's top TE statistics wise if the ball was thrown to him more, once the Dolphins get the OLine and QB situation fixed, I could see Randy goin to a probowl and being the league's top TE

MY mission for this sunday is to keep count of how many times Gus actually threw his way

Which this is the indirect answer to your question... Randy doesn't get the ball more because he's been doing a hell of a job with blocking and we've needed it...

The more our O-line Coheses the more balls he'll get which translates to later in the season I think he'll be getting a steady dose of balls...

I love McMike, but Gates is better!
I don't think so, the Chargers feature Gates more than the Dolphins do with McMichaels. Its similar to us with Crumpler. He's a top TE but this is the first season he's on pace to have more than 50 catches. Utilization of the TE differs in a lot of offenses regardless of how well they catch the ball. A luxury for Gates is that he doesn't have to stay in pass protection and is rarely used in such a fashion.

i would love to see us throw the ball to him more. hes been sitting on my fantasy bench for a while:mad: . didnt we just give him a new/longer contract?? if so WTF are we doing. what is the major holdup??? i want answers saban!

What intangible do you think Gates has that Mac doesn't?

I believe this debate happened last year too. One of the knocks on McMike is hands, someone said he has tendency of dropping passes, I dont know if thats changed.

Advantages of Gates, Speed, body positioning, and ability to GO AFTER THE BALL (ala rebound). However, McMike does hell of a job blocking! He is far superior than Gates in blocking, at this point in time.

Thank you man. Gates has one good season. That dosent make him better. The teams differ in schemes, plays and playcalling. Do you think that if mcmike was in there system that he would be ten times btter then gates? I think so. Gates in our system whould just be another TE.

Good points daredevil. If you were to watch the SD games this year, rarely do we have the TE staying to block, which is a good thing from my perspective. Similiar to last year, Gates is being double teamed, and even some time bracketed off the line...but whats separates him is his ability to know how to position himself and he is too fast for a LB and way too big for a CB, as KC found out.

I absolutely Love McMike but its hard to say he's better than gates.. Gates might be in a better system but he is often double covered and lately is putting up better numbers than like Terrel Owens.....
He's really damn good.......

This isn't accurate... Randy doesn't drop many balls, I'm not sure where that came from?? He doesn't get the ball as much as Gates, that's about it.

if u guys have'nt noticed its always been lke that evn with wanny at helm. he always get the bhalls thrown his way up untill week 6 evrey year then they seem to forget about him. IN the beg. of the year he is always on pace to be thebest in the league that year but then they forget we have a GO TO GUY unlike chambers n booker except for welker.

He's having a pretty darn good second season too, minus one game being benched. I believe he leads in TD's, yards, average, and receptions.

So you're telling me that Gates is only as good as our system? IF thats the case, then why couldnt we do it 2 years ago with Peele, Alexander, etc...?

Gates is a very special player. He has combination of speed, size, hands, and ability to use his body. GATES IS NEVER LEFT 1 on 1 throughout the game, NEVER. Do you think if McMike was in our system, the defense would focus on McMike like they do on Gates?
