The national media does not know much about our team. They look at some stats and rankings and follow with what those tell them.

The locals are better but, are also following the Heat, Marlins, Panthers, and Canes.

None of the above know more than many posters, who bleed Aqua, and dissect 3rd and 4th string players, as well as guys who barely see the field, and even those on the practice squad.

Agree or disagree? And who knows best of all the media when it comes to our team?

Once we start making the playoffs regularly...the media will take notice. For now I don't think we are doing anything very special to warrant media attention (whether good or bad).

Not sure who knows best but Armando knows the least. I would definitely rank him dead last as far as knowledge of the Miami Dolphins. Omar seems to pretend to know a lot but his issue is that he makes blanket statements on comparisons with other teams and has no clue about the other team he's comparing the Dolphins to. He tries to compare us to the Patriots a lot and makes general statements that are way off the mark. Abramson I haven't really read much of his stuff....hasn't been here that long....maybe two years or so. James Walker from ESPN also not very knowledgeable but at least he doesn't try to put one over on his readers like Omar does.

Darlington.......even since he is more on a national level, I have high confidence in his reporting.

Pretty funny thread. I guess the posters know more than any national media, and all locals know less because all of them have to follow so many teams. Ok then.
This is funny on a lot of levels. Are we in need of a pat on the back or something. Posters are the best for sure then!

Difference is, the Dolphins are our passion, and the media's job.

I believe that there are many posters here who deserve a pat on the back for the time and effort they spend and share in following our team by watching film and finding any tidbit of info there is on the team. Hell, for an extreme example, look at what Hoops is doing on his play by play on RT. Try doing that for just a few plays to see the time it takes. There are too many other examples to mention.

Something else to consider. How many media articles have we all seen posted here before they became media articles? Do they come from forums or, just coincidence?

I watch/listen to a lot of the media regarding the Fins....and no doubt, I get more information from this site than I do watching the talking the heads. You definitely have to filter through the opinion and BS on the site, but there is also a lot of great information here that goes well beyond just the two or three top players on the team.

I believe that the site's intent was to eliminate the BS with VIP but, the best posters and threads are not being put up there. FWIW, I think it would be a good idea to put their threads up on both forums to compare responses, and eliminate much of the sifting. Just a thought.

Take Omar out of the media, and the media's collective football IQ dramatically increases.

It depends on who in the media you are talking about.

I find most local sports media and Dolphan posters have absolutely no perspective on the NFL.

They obsess over stats and take every story by the local media to heart VERY seriously without using a common sense, BS filter.

The local media churn out overly opinionated garbage.

They lack any kind of dispassionate understanding of the NFL, so everything is gloom & doom or overly positive which is so much worse

because it then feeds the readers and perpetuates the baloney.

Good response. I was not sure what your reaction would be.
There are some very knowledgable people and good posters. At the same time; a lot of discussions are based on media articles and it seems like a race to see who posted a new thread based on them first. Often they have the exact same titles the media used in their articles, a lot of posts are garbage or have little insight, and others are clearly a few words or nothing at all to increase post counts.

On your side, yes, there are some great guys around here. As you mentioned Hoops does an insane amount of work. It is hard enough to rewatch some of the games let alone writing about each play as he does.
I respect the effort 'of some of the good posters".

I don't mind reposting of media articles with links and such, I actually appreciate it, and FinHeaven is a sort of home base usually.
And cheers to you for your passion.

Maybe the National and even local media don't have the time to focus in depth on Miami?
Posters here dream about Miami night & day.
Like mentioned, reporters are paid for their work, posters do it out of passion.

I also appreciate seeing responses to media reports here to see what everyone has to say.

Occasionally guys on the Phinsiders on WINZ do a good job, but all too often media guys think they are celebtities, like Dan Patrick, so they spend most of their time talking about who they had dinner with or whose backside they are smooching. At least many well informed posters on here, like CK, break down film and do great work.

media has turned into who can find a big story and throw it out there first. a lot of time its without all the details, and even the full truth.

also they try to make stories out of nothing just so they can have people read and debate on their stuff, especially in slow times of the year. even if its a slight rumor they hear, or basically BS, they put the little blurb out there, a little story on it out there too.... example the Albert situation where he himself was even angry about that being reported. Was he even interviewed at all?

all of this is done before credibility now a days.... its awful
