Good old "hair-gel Mel" brought up a interesting point this morning on the Mike & Mike show. He said that he believed that the Raiders are going end up taking Russell with the first pick and that the Lions would either take Joe Thomas or trade down. If they trade with AZ who would then take Thomas at that spot then it leaves the Browns sitting at #3 with the best player overall still available CJ. Another senario would be TB trading up to the #2 to take CJ. However, there is an outside shot of CJ GOING TO ATL WHO WOULD BE A PERFECT FIT IN THE SYSTEM AND FINALLY GIVE VICK A WR HE HAS SO DESPERATELY NEEDED. This got me to thinking: what if CJ is there at #3. ATL trades up ahead of TB to snag Johnson. Cleveland would willing to do this because there is no other team between #4 and #8 that would take an RB and Peterson would still be there for the Browns at #8. I can definately see this happening. This also good news for those like myself who hope we can draft Quinn without giving up too much.

Yeah lots of interesting scenarios. Personally, I see CJ going to the Raiders unless they completely fail to bring in a new QB of pretty much any kind. But should he go to the #2, I have to think the Lions would be dealing. Seems they are targetting Gaines Adams, so a trade with either Tampa or Zona would work for them.
I really find it hard to see CJ drop to the #3 spot.

I honestly don't think the raiders will pass on russell I can't see it .Sorry guys.

Let's cross our fingers but I am not too sure that we will be able to get Quinn. We will however, get a QB.

I think it's 50-50 the Raiders go with Johnson or Russell. It may come down to whichever one is more willing to sign a contract before draft day.

dude it's al davis and the raiders. anything is possible. i dont see any way they can pass on a franchise QB either, but it would not surprise me one bit if they did.

If the Raiders don't take CJ at #1 I could see a scenario where Atlanta gives up the #8 pick plus they have multiple 2nd rounders this year and next from the Schaub trade. If I was Atlanta and the best WR in the last 10 years is there and is a hometown kid I would move up to get him. Not only would it give Vick a huge target to throw to, but he is also from Atlanta (Ga Tech) and will help sell more tickets as well.

Quinn sucks. Hopefully Cleveland takes him and we get an Offensive lineman or a CB with the nine pick and then pick up a quarterback later. Anytime you have a player promoting himself as much as Quinn has been you have to worry. The Sporting News has Quinn as a third round pick and compares him to Joey Harrington.

That's interesting. I heard Kiper say earlier in the week that he "would not be surprised to see Tampa Bay take Peterson and possibly trade Carnell Williams." Jon Gruden has said Peterson is the best college running back prospect he has ever seen. Later in the week, I hear a continuation of that rumor in which the hosts were discussing how Gruden had also made a comment about some of the more successful two back systems in the draft.

It could be all smokescreen. Tampa could be in a "we're not going to get Johnson so we should trade down" mode and think bluffing on Peterson is the best way to do it. I dunno. Been wondering about it all week.
