Memo to '72ers: Don't sweat it

Carolina's Panthers have had neither a winning record nor a playoff spot the past six years, an NFL eternity. They were 1-15 two seasons ago.


• Indianapolis' Colts made the playoffs last season, yes indeedy. Then were immediately ousted 41-0. The franchise last won a playoff game in 1995, the NFL equivalent of the Pleistocene Age.


• Kansas City's Chiefs last made the playoffs in distant 1997 and last won a playoff game in 1993, when game reports were transported in the beaks of pterodactyls.


• Minnesota's Vikings reached the playoffs as recently as 2000 but quickly lost 41-0, and in the two following seasons were a combined, playoffless 11-21.
