All I hear is people making excuses for Culpepper. It's not his fault it's the O Line, he's recovering from an injury, it's Mularky's playcalling, he looks good out there, Ronnie Brown is a backup runningback, etc, etc, etc...

Regardless, there is a certain crowd of people who believe Culpepper can not do any wrong, and they've believed that since he got here regardless of how he plays, how many times we get beat, who we get beat by, and what happened in Minnesota in 2005.

My question is, exactly how is Culpepper better than Frerotte? What is it about Culpepper that makes his play any better than what we had last year with a backup caliber quarterback. Keep in mind Frerotte's passer rating in MN was 118.1

EDIT:
I'm not hearing any answers to my question... Maybe I should rephrase: What is it that Culpepper does that Frerotte cannot do? What does Culpepper bring to this offense that Frerotte didn't.

We just lost to the 0-3 Houston Texans. Their defense was rated dead last in the NFL. They gave up 98 points in the last 3 games and held us to just 9 today. So please, one of the Culpepper apologists please tell me why we are better off at that position this year.

Gus has played better than Culpepper so far...that is a fact.

Culpepper at 80% is better than Frerotte at 100%. NO QB in this game would have success behind this oline.

DC is a mistake...and it will cost us for the next 2-3 years if not longer. He has lost it....no mobility, no speed, can't even hold onto the ball most of the time...and don't blame this on the o-line either.

No actually that "fact" is completely incorrect, last year frerotte had a rating of 71.9 and when we were languishing at 3-7 it was no doubt people such as yourself who were calling for Feeley, perhaps if you bothered to look up daunte's rating you might have a clue

Apparently I've forgotten that LJ Shelton and Kendyl Jacox were on this line, and Rex Hadnot was at center, last year.

One thing that Frerrotte did last year (and did really well) was his way of avoiding the pass rush. The O-line was given WAAAAY too much credit last year for only allowing like 25-something sacks. If anyone says otherwise, they're blind. I'm not saying Frerrotte did a great job overall, but he does have a good eye for the pass rush. I was very pleased with that.....

Culpepper came alive when the Texans went into play not to lose mode. Wannstedt must be in the booth for the Texans.............

People can say what they like about Gus. The guy played hard. He made mistakes but the reason he made mistakes was because of his high risk, high reward metality - something I wish Culpepper would adopt.
