I just don't understand the love for Groves at 32. Assuming we keep Taylor ( and I think we do) then we have him, Porter, Moses (who B.P. is said to love), and Courtney Anderson. We need to draft one, just not that early.
Now everyone knows that I covet Cason and Lofton, but here is the million dollar question, is it possible to get both of them? Yes, but it is tricky. This is the main reason for the delay of my latest mock, I had Cason at 32 and Lofton at 57, but I think those may be switched. Seems Lofton will be the hotter item come Saturday. I think it depends on where Meyo and Connor are taken. If both are gone after the Giants pick, then I think we go with Lofton.
At the same time, since Cason is not a workout stud, you have seen him slip a little in most projections (Kiper having him at 59 now). I think with most of the so called elite cornerbacks slipping (DRC, Jenkins, Talib, and McKlevin) then we might be able to hold off on Cason until 57. Long, Lofton, Cason . . . that is just a freaking unbelievable first day.
For those who want that OLB, well I think Cliff Avril slips there and you can pick him at 64. This is not my favorite pick since he won't be a starter right away, but he is a DE moving to OLB and it takes a couple of years for the transition to take place. Suddenly you have Moses and Avril poised to take over for Taylor and Porter in two or three years.
That leads to one of my favorite prospects in the whole draft in the fourth with Roy Schuening the G from Oregon State setting pretty, ready to complete our line.
Haha, just realized I pretty much mocked the other top picks, sorry guys.
