Merged 17X: Saban Expected to interview for Bama Job (rumor)/ESPN reporting

"I had a good college job, so why would I have left that if I would be interested in another college job? I took this as a challenge. We certainly haven't seen this through and gotten where we want to go and finish the job here, so why I would I be interested in something else?"

He's staying.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

There should be a rule against this or something. Alabama has a lot of nerve to think that they could just come in and snatch an NFL head coach away.

Virginia did this with Al Groh. Maybe Saban is not cut out to be an NFL guy.

If he leaves, he leaves. Life goes on.

If he interviews at Bama, he's dead to me.

In the interim, I'll assume these reports are BS.

Alex must not have anything else to write about...he must be one of the media beatnicks that Nick probably picks on...Nick is winning so Alex decides to get the attention away from the positive...

MOVE ALONG, NOTHING TO SEE HERE...

He might be staying and the story might be BS, but this quote proves nothing. Coaches lie about stuff like this all the time.

I continue to laugh at the thought of Saban leaving after only 2 years. Not going to happen.

I don't know. His statements seems very strong to me. I doubt he is really looking to leave. Most of the time they either dodge or are very vague when they are thinking of leaving.

What's even scarier, who would we look at to replace him? Who are some of the leading coordinator candidates? Please NO to Martz, Mularkey, Capers.

I am a huge Saban fan but if he interviews at Alabama, he should be fired on the spot.

He should have conviction on what he is doing in Miami. He should be a MAN and tell all other suitors, "I am not interested."

It is digusting that this story comes back day after FREAKING day.

I like this bit of the story...

"Quoting anonymous sources, the Huntsville Times reported that the university was set to make a push to speak with Saban as well as West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez. Alabama is looking to replace Mike Shula, a former Dolphins assistant who was recently fired after four seasons as the Crimson Tide's head coach."

It only states that the university wants to speak to Saban, not that Saban has been contacted or he has had communication with them...

Honestly, I think the HUntsville Times report is nonsense. Same group of Alabama writers that believe that Alabama turned down Bill Parcells. However, if that report is accurate and Nick is interviewing this week at Alabama, someone other than Nick Saban should lead the team at 4 today. He should be fired right now if true. These players and coaches work too hard.
