MERGED: 49ers coach Shanahan: Possible first-round pick Foster misses '17 season

Where's all the whiners complaining of not drafting him at?

They have just moved on to another player or issue that they think they know more than other people. In real life...in a real job...your ass would be FIRED for making such an pick without having any information like his medicals or background. Yet it did not stop them from yelling incompetence or Same Old Dolphins.

Lynch is in his first year building a team and sometimes you can afford to acquire a very good player with the knowledge that he may miss the first year. Obviously not ideal, but he's not the first to take such a gamble. The 49ers are in a mush different situation than we are. Buffalo still drafted RB Willis McGahee in '03 after he blew out his knee in a national champion knowing he would miss the entire season. The Cowboys just made a similar decision last year when they drafted LB Jaylon Smith. McGahee certainly worked out and the jury is still out on Smith. If Foster becomes the player as expected for them, no one will care about the risk taken and they will actually be lauded for their patience should it work out in their favor.

I totally agree. The 49ers are in that position to do that. We are NOT! To have taken him with this medical issue after dealing with Jordans medical issue and seeing how that turned out...it would have been a disaster. That was my whole point from Day 1. People were ripping the FO for not taking Foster when those same people HAD NO CLUE about the medicals or the reasons why he was passed over. Foster can still be a super player...just was not worth the risk FOR this team AT 22
