GUMBEL OUT AT NFLN
Posted by Mike Florio on April 11, 2008, 4:57 p.m.
Bryant Gumbel, who served as the play-by-play announced for the first two years of NFL Network’s in-house coverage of regular-season games, is leaving the position.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to call NFL Network games the past two years, which was a new experience for me,†Gumbel said in a release. “But we’ve agreed that we’d all be better served going in different directions. There are a lot of talented people at NFL Network. I thank them, I wish them well, and I have no doubt that they will be very successful going forward......................

Thank god, he's the worst PBP guy i think i've ever heard calling a football game. Not only does he not know the game, he butchers player's names too. I think he's a solid journalist dont get me wrong, Real Sports is a good show and i enjoy him being on it in an interview type role, but he had no business calling a game and now the NFL Network games are actually watchable.

Bryant Gumbel will no longer do play-by-play for NFL Network

All I have to say is, "Thank God!"
LOS ANGELES -- Bryant Gumbel has given up his role as an NFL Network play-by-play announcer after two seasons.

The NFL Network said Friday it was looking for a new play-by-play announcer to work with Cris Collinsworth on the network's Thursday and Saturday night games.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to call NFL Network games the past two years, which was a new experience for me," Gumbel said in a statement. "But we've agreed that we'd all be better served going in different directions."

he knows nothing about football it is good thing, all they gotta do now is give up all their rights to games and then we will have world peace

Well i'm ok with them having games since i HAVE the channel. But i agree that it is ridiculous fans cant see their teams play in home markets because of the NFL Network. At least it will be more watchable though with Gumbel gone.

Next: Let's get rid of Theismann and John "I'll explain everything like you're a three-year old" Madden.
