There sure is a lot of arrogance around the boards lately . . .

What is up with everybody being so sure about the recent coach hirings (one hiring of which is not even finalized yet) and forthcoming offseason moves that has everyone making Miami a sure-fire winner next year?

I'm seeing topics like:

Are we now a Super Bowl contender?

When we do (not if) secure home field??

Greatest coaching staff EVER???

I think some fans need to pull the reigns back a litttle. We're still a non-playoff team that is still without the most crucial element, a very good QB.

How about we wait at least untill the end of the offseason until we declare the Fins the team to beat in 2006.

Nobody likes arrogant fans, just look at Pat fans. Except of course they have three Super Bowls to back up there attitude. Right now, we just have a six game winning streak, well so did the Bills last year and look at them now.

I do believe we'll get where we want to get eventually, but man, a little patience and sensibility around here would be nice. Just to put things in perspective, I'm as excited as anyone here about our team next year, but lets not book Super Bowl weekend hotel reservations yet.

I think this is with most teams. Living here in the midwest, all I hear about is the Chiefs and how Herman Edwards is the best thing since sliced cheese. The way the local media and fans are all over him, youd think he has won 3 Super Bowls with the Jets.

I agree. A lot of people are going into next season with unreasonable expectations. Yes, the phins are seemingly a club on the way up, almost anyone would agree with that, but I'm not thinking Super Bowl at all. I'm thinking playoffs is a strong possiblility. That being said, after the horror of 2004, it's good to see my bretheren happy again.

Well said. I understand where you're coming from. Some of these recent threads/statements that I read recently are way over the top.

Some people get carried away. You can't stop that. I just skim past those threads and look for the more level-headed ones.

Good post...it's not the coaches, but the players on the field that execute..you can have great coaches, but if the players don't execute, you still have a team on the outside looking in at playoff time..there's still some major issues on our roster at this time. I'm for being optimistic, but I think you should be real about it too.

I agree we still have a long ways to go, but Saban has something and everyone can see it and feel it. Granted it's no excuse to go overboard and I absolutely don't think we are a SB team. But you can't blame everyone for being siked about our future. Read some of the articles being written by non bias reporters and you'll agree Saban has added some serious talent to the coaching staff. I don't mind the over the top threads I just won't read the ones that even suggest a SB team. I'll stick to the up beat realistic threads for now.

Herm is the only HC who went 4-12 and got his salary DOUBLED!!

Wait until those Chiefs fans see the 3rd and 15 draw. Or hear him give one of his Kool-Aid speaches...

no reason for you to be biased, none at all.

And to this thread starter, I submit to you: would you prefer the alternative? Is it not a pretty HUGE change from 2 offseason's ago? Remember that winter/spring? :goof:

I'd rather read "superbowl" and "greatest coaching staff ever" posts, than read a hundred threads about how much we suck on a dolphins fansite

I think its because we all seen how much of a difference coach can make this year. Look back into the Wanny era where we didn't have hardly any good coaching on this team. Going into next year we are going to have 3 head coach talented people guiding the direction of this team. I have to say I'm excited about what is going on. We are still going to have to pick up some key players, but are the playoffs so unreasonable?? If you say no, then the Superbowl isn't very unreasonable either. All you have to do is make it to the playoffs and you have a good chance at a superbowl. With the exception of Jax I dont think there was a team in the AFC playoffs that wasn't a superbowl caliber team. So take it easy with the predictions.

Its the offseason. Better get used to it.
:shakeno: THAts what i was thinking whats a point in haveing a forum if you cant post how you really feel..besides whats wrong with some positive enthusiasm..thats not smug..rather what fans do about their team...should we all be slandering our team until we make the playoffs

the dolphins suck until we win the super bowl...(sarcasm)

Who's being biased????

Ask a Fin fan about Wanny....

Anyhow, you guys got yourselves 2 good coordinators. Saban seems like he knows how to run a team. But best staff of all time???

Wasn't Holmgren, Reid, Gruden ,Jauron and Mariucci all on tha same staff??They were a top 5 staff...

I agree with you on the degree to which people are responding to the coordinator hires.

That's normal to this board on every issue though.
There are a select number of posters that post with well thought content. Most of the posts you can count on for nothing more than hilarious entertainment.

The hires guarantee nothing.

They do however warrant all of us to have great optimism for the future of this franchise. The hires show the team is building an extremely solid structure maximizing our opportunity to reach success in the near future.

That all of us can legitimately get excited about.
