Merged: Belichick Continues To Praise Brown

belichick really knows what he's doing, now that ronnie destroys his defense he can say: heck he's the best in the league :D

i think he's trying to boost up Ronnie's head and have him melt like Caddy with all the hype...

i was going to say pretty much the same thing, it seems like he just wants to get ronnie all hyped and get him overconfident and smack him in the mouth

I bet Belichick wishes he had Ronnie instead of a 31 year old Cory Dillon.

now yes. but i'm sure the results met the expectations when they made the deal.

if that happened, and we in fact knew that that was the reason why, i'd be so incredibly disappointed in ronnie's focus. that would be ridiculous.

Nah, Belicheck is a class guy. I don't think he'll stoop that low to play mind games with a young, vulnerable player. Besides, I'm sure Saban will make sure that he doesn't get hyped up from what the media or other people say. But it sure makes you proud to be a Dolphins fan, because last time I checked, Belicheck knows what he's talking about.

i don't think it could happen though, ronnie seems so incredibly focused, and i like last week he started showing some emotion on the field when he broke long runs and got first downs, that really dosen't pertain to anything just had to throw it in

i dont think so. if you read all his comments, he goes into great detail about everything. the guy is a master of watching film and i think he sees what we all see about ronnie: he is a special player

aside from that, he is making these comments to get the attention of his defense. hes playing the media so that they go to the defense and say, "coach said ronnie is a blah blah blah, how are you gonna stop him?"

BB is impressing on them the importance of stopping the opposing teams best player. this is classic parcells.

Belichick is a very smart coach...hes not gonna come out and bash a team instead he'll say all the right things so he has no controversy. I still doubt the patriots have a gameplan to stop him

true. i cant remember how many times coaches have said that wanny was a great coach

Belichick Trying to Psyche Brown Out

I think that's what's happening. You don't get so effusive if there isn't some underlying agenda. When the best coach in the league, and possibly one of the best coaches of all time, keeps telling you how great you are, and you've only played EIGHT games in the league, you might get a little concerned that you won't live up to it. You may at least put a little pressure on yourself to live up to it, which could be counterproductive.

Not saying that'll happen with Ronnie -- I don't know him well enough. But I still think that's what Belichick is trying to do. I think Belichick saw him dancing around behind the line early in the year, attributed it to Ronnie's being new and putting pressure on himself to live up to the draft hype, and he's trying to put enough pressure on him to make him dance around again against New England.
