Yeah, Jay called Joe and told him the team just gave him his release. He also mentioned they did try to trade him for a low pick.

Why? Beacuse I'm a Dan Carpenter fan. I really love what this kid brings to the table. I was so happy when we signed him as a UDFA.

I was never really a big fan of Jay Feely. Also, I am not just saying this because it appears he was released. I didn't like how outspoken he was for a kicker. Obviously Parcells shut him down a little, but he was always the first in line to do an interview. Him calling WQAM to tell them instead of just the announcement article from the team proves my point.
He was an accurate field goal kicker, as long as it wasn't 50 or more yards long. Accurate, but not a real strong leg. I hated that he couldn't get touchbacks on kickoffs. I had a feeling Carpenter would win the job, just didn't think it would be this soon.

this move was a no-brainer. Carpenter is just as good, if not better than Feeley and he comes at a much cheaper price.

I loved that Feeley was our best offensive weapon last season. After Brown went down, he was our only offensive weapon. I don't understand the move.
