Dolphins | Thomas Signed
Tue, 6 Sep 2005 06:16:33 -0700

Updating an earlier report, the Miami Herald reports the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/22/nfl">Miami Dolphins have signed free agent CB Kiwaukee Thomas (Jaguars) to an undisclosed contract. Maybe this will definitley confirm it.:)

Not really, considering its basis is the same source (The Herald)

Very strange that its still not on www.miamidolphins.com

I get the feeling is in the works maybe even almost complete but not done. If it was done, we would have more updates other than Andy Cohen's piece.

As a pretty big Football fan, with my football package, I see every game, I know most players, especially ones that make an impact towards their team. Why have their been like 20 posts on this guy? Is he that good, I can say I am not John Clayton, but I know my football, and really never heard of him.

Yes he is a very good nickle and dime corner. And is also a special teams demon. Great pick-up by Saban.

I"ve heard of him. I think the big reason so many including myself have made a big deal about him is because we're so thin at CB that having a guy with some exp. is huge!

why was he released, and why not INT's in 5 years if he is such a great corner. Granted, the object of player corner is to prevent passes from being completed, but a nickel and dime back should have atleast a few in 5 seasons.

He's not Patrick Surtain or Sam Madison but he will be an upgrade at the position for us. Don't forget, last year Madison had a great season but didn't have any picks for us.

he was mainly a special teamers guy who started sparingly at nickel. And sometimes INT's just don't go your way. we all know how that works.

I know Sam had a good season without an INT last year, but, Sam has picked his passes in his days, he is on the Dolphins top 5 list in INT's I believe. I am a former Corner, I know how the position works. I want this guy to be good, I was just wondering why everyone was so high on this guy.

well people just want to believe the best when we signe someone. can't blame them i suppose. Personally if will poole wasn't hurt we'd ALL feel a bit more comfortable about our secondary. but he is. so moves like this need to happen.

There are also guys that can cover pretty well, but have bad hands. I don't know if this is true of Thomas or not, but it's a possibility. I don't expect him to be deion sanders, but if he's hung around for 5 years on special teams and seen playing time on a decent d/secondary, i think he'll be alright. let's remeber he's replacing mario edwards, not pat surtain.

If Poole could make it back midseason, I would be extremely happy. I thought he was ready for a solid year as a starter before he got hurt. I would love for him to be the #3 and Howard mostly on the pine for the second half of the year.
