No longer bound by the team’s strict media rules, Crowder has taken to the airwaves in the last week since announcing retirement. And he’s not holding back, answering whatever questions are asked of him – whether it’s his clashes with Jeff Ireland or his disappointment in quarterback Chad Henne.

First things first, Crowder admitted Tuesday morning on 560-AM that he’s not really retired. His wife is due with the couple’s first child in two weeks, and Crowder wanted to be there in the first few months.

“It wasn’t so much about football,” he said on The Joe Rose Show. “It was about my family and my new wife and my child on the way. Either next year, two years at the most, but probably next year, call up (my agent) and see if we have any attention.”

Crowder said he loved playing for Tony Sparano and he’s still going to root for the Dolphins, “but next year I’ll probably be with someone else.”

“A lot of the politics that Jeff Ireland and them play, I didn’t like that,” he said. “The monopolization they have – they don’t want you to go on the radio, and they want everybody to say the same thing and be the perfect little soldier. I wasn’t a fan of that.”

Crowder also isn’t a fan of Henne’s, and said the Dolphins’ fate will rest on the defense this year. When asked If Henne can get the job done this year, Crowder answered, “As of what I’ve seen so far, no.”

“With the new offense he might click in and learn something, but that’s almost an oxymoron, to say somebody is going to be better in a brand new offense,” Crowder said. “He hasn’t really proven anything to me while I played with him, and now being on the other side looking down at him as a fan.”

Crowder has the same critiques of Henne as do most people – about his leadership abilities and questionable decisions on the field.

“He’s not impressing me either. He has all the tangibles. His feet work funny. Arm strength he has, he can make some good throws,” Crowder said. “But the intangibles, the winning the game, wanting to have everything on his shoulder like the Bradys and Mannings and wanting to be down by five with a minute left on the 20-yard line, let’s see what happens, he doesn’t have that in his heart yet. And I think it’d be hard for him to win.

“The defense will be great this year, but they can’t make a run unless they get a delivery man throwing that ball to all the great players they have.”

“But you know the proof’s in the pudding, so if he comes out here this year going crazy I’ll have to put my foot in my mouth. But if I was a betting man I wouldn’t bet on that boy going crazy.”

As much as I hate Chowder and was happy he got cut! He speaks the truth! I have been saying isn't a leader and you can see it on the field in him and how the players react to him. Look at what Dansby said about watching his body language and that says a lot about a man. Sparano just because you slap a C on Hennes chest doesn't make him a leader and it sure as hell doesn't mean others will follow!

So he's going to take the year off and then hope teams line up next season to see what sort of shape he's in? Good luck with that

Why do we always draft wimp QB's in the second round? John Beck ended up being fine with being a 3rd stringer, then there's Pat White, and now Henne who is just a guy that the coaches are putting out there to throw the ball and hand the ball off, not play quarterback.

Disgruntled ex employee... Who cares what he thinks. He has all the intangibles also and didn't get it done on the field. He spent most of his time in the tub rehabbing.

honestly just because a guy sucked or was invisible on the field, doesn't invalidate his opinion(S). The greatest coaches are often crappy players, and the greatest players don't often make great coaches.

Does CC's opinion of Chad change my opinion? not really, I still have the same hope that we win with whoever is behind center, if its chad I want to see him do well.

Sadly at this point all we have is hope! For better or worse it seems Sparano and this regime are going to let it all ride on Henne!

It doesnt change my opinion on Chad either, as I already believe what he is saying. However, I think it gives us a better understanding of what the defensive players on the team think of Henne.

If your performance at your job is poor, it's not a good idea to speak on the next employees performance. CC needs to worry about his poor performance so maybe he will be employed next season.

So because he wasnt a star hes not aloud to voice his opinion. Thats a pretty dumb opinion from you IMO. In reality, Crowder was a better ILB then Henne has been a starting QB.

I think Channing's opinion on Henne is much welcomed. He also didn't close the door on him getting it all together under this new offense. One thing Henne has lacked his 2 years under center is the poise under pressure. The 2 minute drills have been poor and some of the decision making has been poor. The physical tools are all there, you just hope an offseason of building unity with his team, a new system and taking more of a leadership role has helped him develop some of those needed intangibles to be a successful NFL QB.

And if it shows that it hasn't, and Matt Moore proves to be much better in practice and preseason, by all means, let the best man win.

And Sparano isn't stupid, if Matt Moore is clearly striding and Chad Henne is clearly failing, he will put Moore under center . . . . but he isn't going to make a switch if Moore is doing better than Chad, but Chad is doing well also. He is feeding the media and the fans that line to avoid more distractions for his QB's. They have already had the Orton chant and the "Matt Moore . . . you gotta be getting me" cries . . . let these guys focus on the job.

This is great news folks, more motivation for henne, lets go dolphins!!!!!!!!

Yea, 6 years as a unquestioned starter at LB under defensive coordinators by the names of Saban, Capers and Nolan really means he didn't do his job and doesn't make him qualified to comment on a QB he probably has had more experience setting defensive assignments against that any other player or analyst that could be named.

Do you understand how you sound right now?
