Charles Rogers a Fin?

According to ESPN, Detroit is going after 10 million dollars from Rogers' signing bonus. Chris Mortensen said Rogers won't be on the team next year.

Now, Saban recruited him and Rogers played under Dolphin's RB coach Bobby Williams at Michigan State. They know him. With next year's draft being thin at receiver, should we go after Rogers? He has all the potential at this point to be a bonifide number 1, but has very questionable character.

This guy reminds me of David Boston. A huge upside if he stays healthy, but he never stays healthy. In fact Rogers has never been productive in the NFL because he's always been injured. If we can get him for the price we got Boston, I'd say it's worth the risk.

If the price is right, sure.. There is no doubting the guys talent... unfortunatly the NFL hasn't seen his potential yet.

I wouldn't give the guy #1 WR money though, no way.

sounds like a good idea. i still want t.o. , i know most people will disagree but i have a feeling whoever gets him next will get the t.o. that will dominate the league and wont have disciplinary problems. i think t.o. has realized that he can no longer act the way he does and be successful. theres going to be a new t.o. next year and i hope he's wearing a fins uniform.

I dunno. I remember reading it on a scroll on NFL network, I believe in week 1 maybe 2.

I could be mistaken but, I'm almost certain.

i think saban might take a chance on him.... he is a coach who believes in 2nd chances if they can help the team...

i think id rather spend the chance on rogers.. who is very young and has had Fluke injuries.. not naggin ones..... which shouldnt affect his future
Rather than.... take a chance on owens.... Who could create more problems then solve them.... and cost twice as much

Wow, I didnt know they were going after that much of the bonus money. If thats true there is no way he will be with them next year. I would take him in a heartbeat as long as it was a realy low base salery with lots of incentives. If it didnt work out we wouldnt have much invested in him so realy whats the risk?

what has he done that labels him as a character concern?

Good question. Suspended four games this season by the NFL for violation of the substance abuse policy. Since he's been back from injury, he has been unmotivated and lazy in practice to the point where he was put on the inactive list for one week while a journeyman WR played in the game. Do we need a selfish, unmotivated player at this crucial time in the Dolphins' development as a team? No, but perhaps a change in environment could change Rogers. Again, if anyone in the NFL knows Rogers, it would be our staff. But we need leaders on the offense, not another work in progress. I say no on Rogers, personally, but I don't have enough data. That's why I'm bringing it to the board.

Edit: He hasn't spent much time in the NFL and is more likely to change than a TO. But TO has proven himself in the NFL.
