Merged: CJ Spiller - 4.28 40 yard dash.

http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/jahvid-best?id=497147.i have watched spiller alot, and have pushed the talk about him.he does run a little stiff, and high.between the tackles could be an issue.i think best could be the better back.http://www.nfl.com/combine/top-performers spiller doesnt even come in the top 10 on any cones or laterial drills.the question i have is how stiff is he?

Spiller didn't run in the cones and lateral drills. He just ran the 40. How stiff? Not too stiff that he didn't rack up a ton of AP yds in college. Like 2nd all-time. And a > 5 yd /carry rushing average for his career. BTW, the OLine was average to poor. I know, I watched every game and suffered through the line play.

One more thing. I don't for a second believe that Best or any other RB in the draft or in the pros would beat Spiller in a foot race except maybe Chris Johnson. I'm saying that 'official' time the combine put out looks awfully fishy to me.

Thats because there is no such thing as an official time... and there are like 3 unofficial times.

Emmit Smith - 4.8
Ricky Williams - 4.40
Thomas Jones - 4.43
Reggie Bush - 4.43
Ronnie Brown - 4.44
LT - 4.38

These guys above are great RBs in the NFL and they all have speed. So the 40 yard dash does matter but the HOF on top shows you that's not all its about. Fatigue, Injuries, pivoting, agility, game speed, stamina are just a few other things that matter as well. When there is a 250lb ILB coming right at you, I'm sure it makes a bit of a difference in your speed (sarcasm).

I'm will sure Spiller will be great player. You watch him play and you don't have to be a GENIUS to see he has amazing potential.

Imagine if we have a Healthy Ronnie Brown who can pound the rock, along with game-breaker guy like ,Spiller, Ricky, as a #2B or #3, Hilliard #4. That 1-2 combo would be among the best in the league. Reminds me of Bush/Thomas or a Barber/Jones combo. Plus this guy can do wonders as the WILDCAT with his speed. PR/KR.

To me though its more of a luxury pick because of the needs we have but if he is there at #12 it is good value for the pick, but maybe not BPA.

Me and CK had the Spiller/Best discussion.....I didn't expect Best to outrun Spiller by .02 while being 3 pounds heavier.....but I did say that their 40 times were going to be a lot closer than people think....but that Spiller has the better 100m speed...

Best outruns angles just as often as Spiller did....and he's more effective between the tackles....Best finishes his runs a lot better than Spiller....

The thing that stands out to me with Spiller is those 10+" hands.....that's ball security and TNT type explosiveness wrapped into one...
