Up here in Canada they showed a news clip of Culpepper going into the courthouse for his case. He really looked good, as in trimmed down some weight and was not walking with any noticable limp in the clip. I know its not the same as running but still I thought it was a good sign. He looks like he may have lost 20lbs or so which should help the knee also.

really, that is good. less weight will definitely take pressure off of the knees. I think hes going to be ready week 1 regardless though. but thats just my opinion. he is pretty set on starting this new era 8 off the right way.

:yeahthat: :woot:

Yeah I heard well before the trade that he had lost 20-30 pounds to make himself quicker and put less stress on his knee.

Hopefully it doesn't take away from his strength. He's one of the best QBs at getting a pass away while he's being tackled.

He said he's lost weight to keep stress off the knee but you know before the season starts he'll put muscle back on and be about 245 come week one.

i'm not convinced the weight loss is a good thing. sure it will put less pressure on the knee which is good but in my honest opinion culpepper looked damn good before the injury. will the weight loss hurt his game? the old addage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it could be applied here. one of his strengths was his ability to scramble and break tackles, weighing less will obviously diminish that quality.

As long as t wasn't lean muscle mass that he lost, his strength should be ok. And if it was, he'll work it out with Gamble (he's our strength coach I beleive). Less weight can mean he will be faster, not the opposite. It's like en empty pickup truck can get from 0-60 faster than one fully loaded. Less weight to move, same horse power.

It is so easy to get pumped up about CPeP's future with our team I find it difficult to contain my excitement.

Either he naturally walks with a "pimp limp" or he still DOES have a small limp from his injury/surgery. In that same clip of him & the courthouse, I noticed a minor limp. But overall he did look Good. Looks slimmer.

I think in this case the weight loss is good. Daunte was over 270 and looked a little soft. Even at 240-250, he will still be one of the biggest QBs.

Great point. I don't think it's so much the weight, but the strength and explosiveness lost in the joint. Chris Weber lost a lot of ability when he was injured a few seasons ago. Anyone recall what the specifics of that injury were? Knee or ankle?

Well I hope he keeps the fat off and takes less stress off that knee. I am really starting to believe that he is going to be ready to play in some Preseason games and maybe some training camp

Uhhhhh...... Remember when Ricky Williams first came to the fins, he had lost a considerable amount of weight upon arriving in Miami and what happened??? He had his best season he Will Ever have, and everyone was saying it was because he lost some weight and was quicker.

I don't think 20 lbs will make much of a difference. Arm strength is arm strength and he has that regardless. Look at Ricky Williams for example: Weighed like 240 lbs at one time and was the league leading rusher in 2003. He came back this year and weighed 215lbs in the beginning of training camp and gained 10lbs or so throughout the season and still managed to be just as productive as he was before. It's all about skill :)

You know that the team will have an opinion on that and will address it accordingly. He said in an interview that he was already running!! I think it was the ESPN interview.
