As someone based in the UK I saw only a handful of games on TV and had to listen to the rest via online radio. Whats the general opinion on Derek Hagans rookie season and what can we expect from him next season?

There is a lot of talk at the moment on what to do with Chambers, Welker needs to be resigned and Ginn Jnr is a possibility in the draft but I'd like your opinion on Hagan.

I was listening to the Joe Bailey show on 790 the ticket and he said when they were searching for the new HC and doing their interviews, one of he names that kept coming up, was Derek Hagan. Bailey said, there was a lot of interest in him and how the coaches would use him most of the coaches loved his size and ability run routes. Bailey said their excited about his future with this team.

Personally, I wasnt too impressed with him in the first part of the season, he dropped alot of passes. For a guy in his position to rarely get on the field, and have a chance to impress, he didnt. But in the last few games of the year he started to impress, not just myself but im sure quite a few others, he used his body to get up, and make some rather impressive catches and take some big shots and still hold onto the ball as well. I think if that trend continues we have no reason but to be hopeful this guy can be a key player for us.

I would say good size, he got better though the year, ran some good routes to get open. His hands are still questionable (which makes him fit in with this WR core perfectly), to be fair though he made a few nice snags in heavy traffic.

Not a player that would blow you away watching him last year, but may very well be a good player depending on his progress. He may have suffered from the Rookie jitters a bit last year. We should really get to see what he does this year.

Big...gets open...unreliable. He drops far too many and catching the ball is something he should have learned in pop warner. Routes are learned in the pros, catching is something you learn early on and he doesn't have it. I cringe when the ball is thrown his way on third down. All that money and he can't take care of job #1.

ima chalk up the hands situation to it being his rookie year... but if he holds on to the ball better this year he can be a big player for us... he gets open, knows how to use his strength/body and runs smooth routes... he would fit right into the marty booker role if we happened to drop booker and i think could be better than booker if he gets his hands to be more consistant and continues to work hard...

thanks, hopefully I'll get a chance to see him and the rest in the flesh when they announce Dolphins and Giants as the London game this week.

Well, considering that last year he was a rookie and Baggett didn't have him ready bothered me. Miami paid Bagget 400k to be WR coach. That was his job to have that young man ready. I have all ideas that Cameron will get results from him and also he will be our go-to guy before the season ends. With new strength coaches , a new scheme and coaches on offense expect a lot of positives, instead of demeaning attitudes the players got from Saban.

Hagan made a few nice catches here and there, and in a more organized system {the one that Cameron will likely install}, I think Hagan could emerge into a more proficient offensive role. Remember, in San Diego, Camerons' main receiving outlets were Tomlinson / Gates....

In Miami, Cameron will have Hagan / Welker / Chambers / Booker / McMike, and possibly another young draftee on the horizon. Bottom Line : Our WR corps is going to be getting plent of opportunity in the coming seasons under Cameron, and I'm sure that if D. Hagan can begin to find his comfort level, he'll trun into a very solid WR threat for us. He was great in college, but was overlooked, his rookie season showed me that he can make the transition....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Hes a rookie with talent whose knock on him coming out of college was that his hands were suspect. In the Sr Bowl last year (and in that week of practice) he dropped alot of passes, otherwise he would have been a first round pick.

The drops caused him to drop to the third round and lo and behold, he gets here and drops alot of passes.

He seems like he fits right in with this current crop of Dolphins. Very talented, but somehow finds a way to finish.

If Cameron can turn him around, great. If not, hes just another underachiever in a long list that haunt Miami.

I thought the drops really hid what Hagan did this season. He never made a mistake with his routes, he showed amazing ability to separate from the defender, and he certainly isn't a slouch at all. He probably could have been a lot better in a decent system and with a more accurate QB.

Hagan and Lemon worked incredibly well together - the other QBs not so much.
