The Miami Dolphins have poached offensive lineman Will Barker from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad, and signed him to the team’ 53-man roster on Tuesday evening.
Barker was claimed Tuesday morning and passed his physical in the afternoon, consummating a two-year deal that will at least keep him around for a month because poached practice squad members must remain on the team’s 53-man roster for at least three weeks.http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...sweblog+(Miami+Dolphins+|+Sun-Sentinel+Blogs)

Yes but the biggest news?

Will Barker - T - Dolphins

Dolphins signed OT Will Barker from the Bucs' practice squad.

Barker played in three games with Tampa Bay last season after being promoted from the practice squad at mid-season. He was originally signed by the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia in 2010.

Barker, who is 6-foot-7, 325 pounds, can play both tackle and guard, but has primarily worked on the right side of the offensive line. That happens to be the area the Dolphins need the most help with because of Marc Colombo’s struggles.

Barker, who started for 49 games at the University of Virginia, wasn’t selected in the 2010 draft. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys, but after being released at the conclusion of camp he spent 2010 with the Buccaneers.

Kind of ironic:rolleyes2:

Another former cowboy, Jeff Ireland is the laziest GM I've ever seen.

10/29/10 - OT Will Barker was signed off the team's practice squad to replace OG Keydrick Vincent on the Buccaneers' 53-man roster. Barker, an undrafted free agent, spent training camp with Dallas but joined Tampa Bay's practice squad after he was released by the Cowboys in September.

[SIZE=-2]02/01/10 - Virginia Cavaliers offensive lineman Will Barker will become the fourth senior from the 2009 football squad to close out his career in a senior all-star game, when he appears in the 2010 Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Challenge. Kickoff for the February 6 event is scheduled for 2 p.m. (EST) at the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas. The fourth-annual game will be televised on CBS College Sports. The game pits top collegiate players originally from Texas or who played college football in the state of Texas against top players from around the nation. Barker, a native of Bryn Mawr, Pa., will be on The Nation's roster, coached by former legendary Miami (Fla.) head coach and current Florida Atlantic skipper, Howard Schnellenberger. A durable piece of Virginia's offensive line, Barker never missed a start in his four seasons, a span of 49 games. During Barker's career the only player to come close in number of starts during the same four-year span was Vic Hall (36). In 2008 Barker helped anchor an offensive line that ranked No. 1 in the ACC in fewest sacks allowed (16). As a freshman in 2006, Barker was named a second-team Freshman All-American and an ACC All-Freshman by The Sporting News. Barker will represent Virginia in the third different senior all-star bowl this year, following representatives in the East-West Shrine Game (Nate Collins) and the Under Armour Senior Bowl (Chris Cook & Rashawn Jackson). - Virginia football

Play him over Columbo, anyone over Columbo might save some lives

Why do I see Romo somehow finding his way to the Dolphins lineup?

My gosh what a pathetic bunch!

Those Cowboys retreads are making me sick!

It says he was signed by the Cowboys in 2010, so there is no direct connection between Ireland/Sparano and this guy. Its suspect that we always sign guys that had a cup of coffee with the Cowboys, but I'll take anyone that can take Colombo's job.

This the kind of move I've been hoping for. I would be OK with us trading a 3rd rounder for a young good RT.

I'd much rather have a young guy making mistakes but with room for improvement then a old guy making mistakes and getting older and worse.
