The 5-10, 186-pound Johnson was a sixth-round draft choice of San Francisco in 2005. He played in 14 games in his rookie season with the 49ers, including five starts. He recorded 36 tackles, with a sack, seven passes defensed and a fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown.

Well when a team that was already depleted in the secondary in terms of depth loses a guy to injury/surgery, I'd say it's got some significance to it.

Wes Welker 2.0 will be David Sutton (hopefully), as for Johnson, if he turns out to be good and solid, I wish him different luck as Deke Cooper (Safety) had last year with us, he proved to be solid and consistent, but Saban released him (just as if we had lots of depth and it would be our strongest position, the secondary).

Eventhough, I'm glad for Derrick and for his "stats"

Interesting. A former Falcon, so must have gotten an endorsement from current safeties coach (former Falcons DB coach) Brett Maxie.

Says a lot about Jason Webster that we went for this guy instead. Depth is never a bad thing.
