Merged: Dolphins sign Frank Murphy

Frank Murphy is the first to sign from camp tryout group...

Who will be the remaining guys? Anyone want to take a guess?

Lee2000

All of our Draft picks, Marcus Vick and Gerald Riggs Junior.

Just a camp guy. He will have to fight with about 5 other WR's for the 5th spot and I don't see him winning.

"One of the best kept secrets in college football...Regarded by many as the fastest athlete in the collegiate ranks...Recently timed at 4.22 in the 40-yard dash...Despite his incredible speed, he patiently waits for his blocks to develop before breaking into daylight...Makes remarkable cuts in traffic...Well-balanced with good body control and vision...Could shift to receiver at the pro level to take advantage of his cutting ability and great lateral movement...Changes directions sharply, freezing defenders with his head fakes and stutter-step moves...Polished route runner who can easily beat linebackers on crossing patterns...Uses his power to run through tackles and lowers himself properly when making contact...Breakaway threat as a return specialist.

Super Sleeper Team selection and listed as the most underrated offensive player in the Big Twelve Conference by SportsPage.com

I have a feeling this means Eric Kimble is gone for the year. He was carted off the field Saturday morning according to reports after what appeared to be an achilles injury. Given we already had eleven WR's this suggests Murphy is replacing Kimble.

HOLY crap.
A 4.22? do you know how impossible that is? That is holy crap. Thats faster than anyone in this years draft. Holy crap that is fast as hell, thats faster than anyone else in the NFL

"Holds KSU’s records with a 4.22 clocking in the 40-yard dash and a 42-inch vertical jump."

Not bad!

He is 29 yrs old and and he has been around the mill. The college bios dont apply any more.

Here is more recent info.
sixth-round draft choice of Chicago who was released by the Bears prior to the 2000 regular season, Murphy also played with the Bucs from 2000-01. During his tenure in Tampa Bay, he caught eight passes for 71 yards and a TD. He also appeared in five contests with Houston in 2002 and did not have a reception. He was out of football in 2003. Overall in his NFL career, he has played in 17 regular season games, all in a reserve role, and caught eight passes for 71 yards and a TD and returned 31 kickoffs for a 21.8-yard average with a long return of 54 yards.

Thats a pretty good return average .Maybe that why they are looking at him..

Boston wasn't coming back anyway. He is an Unrestricted free agent and we have made no effort to re-sign him.
