Does Bree's Injury Hurt the chances SD trades Rivers

I dont want Rivers here anyway but i was wondering if anyone else thinks that maybe Bree's getting hurt makes SD less likely to trade Rivers, Bree's will require surgery and maybe SD wont want to trade Rivers in case Bree's doesnt recover well or maybe gets hurt again

Rivers wont be a happy camper if he is in SD next year.

What would San Diego do for a backup if Brees is hurt and they have to go with Rivers....ohhhh that's right....AJ FEELEY. :sidelol:

He'd be an alright backup...

Not even a good one

However, I still see Rivers being dealt, especially now that Brees is hurt. It would have much cleaner for S.D. to have dealt Brees... ;) (bonus wise)

Well SD needs a little more talent so trading Rivers would seem smart, they have a really good team, one or two more pieces from trading Rivers would really be smart. You can find a respectable backup in free agency if need be. Then again if there was even the slightest chance that Feeley would have to start Id keep Rivers.

Sign Brees

After getting injured in their last game, probably a labrum tear, hes going to require some surgury. Given the questions surrounding both his play of late and injured status I doubt the Chargers would risk handing him a long term deal. There is an outside chance they will franchise him again, but more likely is one of those contracts with a large portion of the bonus deferred till the second year so if he doesnt return well from the injury they can jettison him.

If that is the case, put forth the guarenteed money and hes urs. You may debate his physical gifts but hes by far the best FA QB...and his performance this year was impressive with those turnstyles at tackle. Give him a legitimate WR core and a decent OLine and he'll be that franchise QB Miami has been searching for.

drew brees is garbage, who cannot win when the game is put on his shoulders, hope he stays far far away from south fla

If he is healthy and can prove it, I would sign him in a second. Brees is a proven commodity and a clear, young upgrade over Gus. I would actually start to get excited about a realistic '06 SB run if we had Brees as our starter. Heck, he should have been already but Wanny ....

Problem is that he isn't the best fit in Linehan's offense..he's pretty inaccurate with the deep ball. Culpepper for all his other flaws can throw an accurate deep ball and that has been the main reason for any success that he has had there. I like Brees, although it still concerns me that it took him 3 years to develop into anything. I just don't know if he is a good fit here. However, we HAVE to upgrade the QB position to go anywhere but backwards next year. I'm just not sure who the best fit is...Can you imagine what Marino would have done with this offense ????? (shudder to think)...

If the '83-'94 Marino was playing, we would have won 12-13 games.

You just know that in an alternate universe somewhere, Shula drafted a good RB in the '80s and built a great defense, leading the Dolphins to about six SB titles ...

I still think Rivers gets traded.

the same injury as Pennington....and look at how good hes been since.....that was the absolute worst thing that could happen to Brees....cuz everybody will wait until he can throw again to determine if hes ok or not.
