Merged: Green Will Take The Fins Into the Playoffs!/He is a great QB

Dolphins Playoff Bound In 07'

One thing accredited to Green, is that he put up 3 consecutive 4000 yard seasons. And he did it with sub-par WR's. He did have Tony Gonzales. And really good O-Line.(<-----That's important.) But what if he could put those numbers up this year? Chambers. And brown out of the backfield. Or even L. Booker out on the flats and on screens. A balanced offense. Wouldn't it be great watching our team execute touchdown drives. Averaging 20 + points a game. With our defense, we could upset teams all season.

It's all up to the O-Line. If they can provide Green time to read the defense, he'll hit the open recievers. I think Satele is going to be good. He spent his college days in a pass happy offense. That's got to be his forte'. Now we just need Houck to bring these guys together and to get them working as a single unit. It will all start and finish with the O-line. But, i have a feeling Cam is going to do wonders with this team. With an already stifiling defense, Cam brings this super offensive game plan to town. Amagine a Miami Dolphins team that focuses most of it's attention to the offense. That's called balance! This team hasn't had that since the 70's. Of course the Marino day's were filled with offensive explosions. But, he never had a defense like what we've seen in past years.

I remember last year around this time. When everyone was excited about what kind of team we were going to be after quote un-quote finally had a franchise Qb in Culpepper. Sports Illistrated picked us to go to the Super Bowl. There was a lot of high expectations. And i think a lot of people felt so let down, that they wanted to make sure that never happened again. Perhaps, even now they wish for the best but expect the worse. If there's one thing that has been consistant throughout my life. That is believing this year will be the year the Dolphins do it. No matter what. Every year, it's the same. Has it ever happened? Well, i was born in 1980. So, what do you think?

So, think back to this time last year, loyal Fin fans. And remember how you felt. Now, ask yourself one question. Is the team better this year? With an already awsome defense, can an offensive minded coach do a better job then Saban? Remember 2005? A glimpse of what to come in 06'. But better. This team is in better hands then it has been for the past 6 years. I'm really excited about this upcoming season. I'm even more excited about the next couple of years to come. I don't know about you, but i'm tired of dumping coaches. Is it really that hard to find a coach that want's the Miami Dolphins to win a Championship? I hope not. I'm glad we went offense when choosing a head coach. It will be a nice breather from Saban and Wannestedt.
Just some food for thought.

PLAYOFFS IN 07'!!! YOU GOT TO BELIEVE!!!

As you said it's all up to the OL now. With the question mark at QB answered, being Green in and Culpepper most likely out, the OL is our weakest link as long as Green can stay healthy the length of the season.

At LT, Carey is an unknown. He is a good RT and can play against good Left Ends. He does not have the confidence yet to play LT mainly because he has tried once and failed and we all know the better DEs play on the defensive right side. He has to go against the Jason Talyors of the world week in week out. Practicing against JT will give him confidence but practice is only practice.

At LG, Liwenski is only adequate. I've seen him play for the Vikings and he is not aggressive and not stout at the point of attack. He is good at positioning his body and has decent technique but he is not very strong and his foot work in pass protection is very average.

Satele will be great at C. Saw him at the Senior Bowl and was very aggressive, has a great push. Smart player who can pull, locate and jam. He can get to the second level and open lanes. I was very impressed but he will need confidence going against NFL defences.

I think Hadnot and Shelton will do fine at RG and RT. They just move one spot down the line from last season. It will be better for Hadnot as he doesn't need to make the reads and calls anymore. Not thinking and just playing aggressively will make him a lot more successful. Shelton has been a LT so moving to RT should be an easy transition.

All in all this OL needs to gel though. Chemistry is extremely important and only time can tell if they are successful in keeping the defence off Green and opening holes for Brown. The left side is the greatest concern and that is the blindside. These guys must stick it out and fight for every inch. How this team goes this season depends a lot on if these guys can overachieve.

I think this team is very talented and I would be SHOCKED if we don't at least compete at around 8-8 or 9-7. I set the over under at 8 right now and I'm going to have to say over.

As I just said in another post, we can shut down teams on D and feed Ronnie like Uncle Bill at Thanksgiving. If Green can limit mistakes, complete 63%, and find Chambers/Ginn downfield every once in a while, this team's going to the playoffs.

Let's hope that happens AQUA.

That's one thing I worry about a little bit is Green's deep ball accuracy. That was the one thing I LOVED about Daunte was his ability to get the ball down the field. (Too bad we had no line to do it last year.) Green has to be able to stretch the field with our burners to create room for Ronnie. But you can bank on a high comp %, accurate throws, and limited mistakes. No more of those Harrington throws that make you go, "what the hell was that?" :hmmm:

Please no more of those.

I hope Green is as good as Cam wants him to be this year.

I think we can all do without remembering those moments.

Green is a double whammy for us. He brings us a guy who can win now with all the vets we have on D, and he prepares us for the future with teaching our youngster in John Beck. The more I think about it, the more I LOVE this move.

Teaching Beck, and stepping in for us for a year or two yes, but the price to get Green was too high. IMO

I wish it was as easy as that. If there was a formula everyone would be doing it. My expectations are not nearly as high. I hope for the best but if we went 8-8 I would be happy. I envision this team is being set up for a playoff run next season. We are only now putting the pieces together. We have a new head coach/offensive co-ordinater, a lot of new key starters on offense and a brand new offensive philosophy and playbook for them to learn and master. Then they have to all meld and stay on the same page and play as one unit. The only constant is the defense and the biggest question mark is the OL. What i want to see is they all play with heart and stick it to the other teams so we may have a playoff chance. I want to see Cameron motivate these guys and get them to play beyond themselves.

That's all indicative of his performance in the upcoming season. I'm split in my feelings of the price because I like that it's conditional but I wish it was a 6th that could become a 5th. But I am rooting for it to become a 4th because that means he did well for us.

True, just so it isn't like the Ricky syndrome when he ran for 1800+ yards and no playoffs and we gave up a 1st rounder.

I think we are lookin at a strong 6-10 season

I can't be as optimistic as most of you guys...Green could be a concussion waiting to happen. If Cpep is moved out (as is now strongly rumored by NFLN and ESPN, and makes sense), then we will have no real depth behind Green. Not to mention that pick automatically becomes a 4th at that point... Lemon is basically unproven as a starter in this league and Beck is the young gun we want mentored to the starting spot and probably not ready to start...

One scenario could be that if we are out of the race by the 10th week or so, they may stick Beck in there for some baptism-under-fire starting experience..but that can't be their plan going in, I would hope.

I just think that we've traded one broken QB for another...both could turn out fine but neither has proven, thru their play since their injuries, that that is the case...
