Harrington scheduling trips: With the Lions giving other teams permission to see him, Joey Harrington is starting to schedule trips. The first stop for Harrington will be Wednesday with the Dolphins. The Seahawks and Chiefs are among several other teams interested in Harrington. The Lions want to get draft choice compensation, but team president Matt Millen isn't specific on the choice he wants in return.

The Dolphins have talked to agent David Dunn about former Oakland quarterback Kerry Collins as a possible backup after the departure of Gus Frerotte. Collins ranks higher on the team's priority list than Detroit's Joey Harrington.

Dunn indicated Monday that both Collins and Harrington are hoping to land starting jobs. The Lions are attempting to trade Harrington, but they would have to cut him in June if he's still with the team because of an $8.5 million bonus due then.

Great info Nub! I really hope we can land Collins. Unfortunately, I think he'll go to baltimore, where he's got a great chance to win the starting job. Harrington doesn't seem like a realistic option because of the draft pick compensation and his inflated contract. I don't think he's worth more than 2 mil per yr.

I'ld take both in a heart beat. However, I would rather get Harrington as he is still young and could be with us for a while (though I understand that to be highly unlikely once DC gets healthy.) Also, I truly believe that Detroit swallows talented QB's and Joey might just need a change of team to finally realize all that potential he had coming out of college. Collins is older, and obviously more mature and experienced, and probably wouldn't last a full season as he has become more injury prone. He's on the downswing of his career, Joey can't go any lower so I'm hoping he's on the upswing...

I am just curious as to where Harrington thinks he could go and be a starter??? Plus I doubt we are giving up a draft choice for him.

Thank you Nublar. You're the man. I'd prefer Collins, draft pick for Harrington? No way.

Realistically, Harrington would be an upgrade over anyone in Buffalo, Green Bay (assuming Favre retires), and possibly Baltimore, imo. However, he most likely needs to realize that he will have to be taken as a backup for the following year if he goes anywhere else.

That is my point. I think NEXT year he has a chance to start..this year he will have to backup and prove he is worth tha chance.
