I don't think there has been anyone more loyal then Stan Van Gundy has to Pat Riley. Sometimes friendships can have a negative effect on making administrative changes. Look no further than Dave Wannstedt and Wayne Huizenga. So I understand if Riley does this, it's just how the pro sports business is. If Van Gundy goes, I really wish him the best of luck and hope he gets a head coaching job at a respectable team.

This may just be much ado about nothing. In fact I hope Pat Riley and Stan Van Gundy map out those Xs and Os together. I think that Van Gundy with some input from Riley can get the job done with this roster and the upgrades it will get in the off-season.

I don't know how you guys feel, but being a long time Laker fan I would love to see Riley back court side. Go gettem Pat.

Personally i say Riles STFU and stay in the seats you were a great coach for the heat in your day but SVG is doing a hell of a job and is the future of the Heat coaching, my fear this kinda of meddling could ruin a great resurgance of Miami basketball, it aint broke Riles dont fix it!!

Dr. Jack Ramsey just said on SportsCenter that that's he's pretty certain that Riley will return this fall. He said he's not sure where that leaves Stan Van Gundy. And Riley has had conversations with Van Gundy. But from what he's hearing, Riley's return is imminent.

As great as Riley is, I don't know if I want to see that right now.

Riley will become a huge SCUMBAG here. His legacy will be ruined over this.

Removing himself from the bench cause the team sucks. Then when the team gets good, pushing his friend out the door after he had a great season to take the job back.

Ouch, can't defend that one. Riley is scum!

If Riley comes back its because Shaq wants him back and its part of the negotiating process behind closed doors imo. Shaq has been vocal about his displeasure with the way Van Gundy handled game 7.

Is Stan Van Gundy the reason why the Heat didn't get to the Finals??

Dr. Jack: Not at all. He did an outstanding job. The players played for him. They were organized. If Shaq and Wade were 100%, Miami would have been in the Finals with a good shot at winning.

Mke Edwards asked Dr. Jack that very question (if it's Shaq or Riley). Dr. Jack says he believes it's because Riley wants to coach again. Though I think Shaq wouldn't mind either.

I'm just saying Shaq is running some smack about how the offence should have been run through him more.

Who's Dr Jack?

I'm telling you right now it will be the kiss of death for your team if you change coaches. If they yank Van Gundy the Karma wheel start spinning in the wrong direction.

Van Gundy did a great job getting that lousy team he was handed into the playoffs his first year. And give him all the credit for getting Shaq too....if he handnt gotten Odom to play the best year of his career then the Lakers may not of made that idiotic trade.

But he made mistakes in the playoffs....the most glaring ones being not playing Wade in the '03 playoffs in the losing game aginst the Pacers....not getting Shaq the ball in losing to the Pistons. There is no boubt Riley is a better gameday coach....although yes he would be a scumbag if he took the coaching job away from his loyal compatriot.

Jack Ramsay, a legendary coach...he still follows the heat even though he doesnt travel as the TV color commentator any more. He used to be a color commentator for years for the HEAT. He does a lot of national games on ESPN Radio.

Oh I know. The first part of my post was the question that Dr. Jack was asked (I should have said that).

I think so too. It's just not right. People will look at us like we're evil.

Riley has no plans to change coaches

Amid increasing media speculation that Pat Riley plans to replace Stan Van Gundy as Heat coach, Riley issued his strongest denial yet on the matter Thursday.

Heat spokesman Rob Wilson said Riley, in Los Angeles with the team's summer-league entry, told him the report and speculation about Riley's plans are false.

"Stan is our head coach," Riley said through a team spokesman. "We don't plan on making a change."

Riley said has no plans to coach the team, according to Wilson.

The latest report was by ESPN analyst and former Heat broadcaster Jack Ramsay, who said on the air Thursday that Riley would return to coaching. Ramsay still covers the NBA and maintains close relationships in the Heat organization.

OK, that should put the rumors to rest.

For the next five or six minutes...
