With McNair announcing his retirement today, does that change the Ravens' draft board? It looks like a possibility that Matt Ryan could drop a few spots, but I have a feeling the Ravens will take a serious look at trading somewhere into the top 4 to get him.

I'm not saying a Dolphins/Ravens deal is likely because the cost the Ravens would have to pay would be steep, but you can never count out Parcells to make a deal.

This will change the draft!

Ravens | McNair to retire

ESPNews reports Baltimore Ravens QB Steve McNair is expected to announce his retirement.

This should makes things more interesting on draft day...another possible trade to happen.

Baltimore drafts Matt Ryan if he is there at #8, if Atlanta takes him they draft a QB in round 2 be it Bhorm, Flacco, or Henne

i think the ravens will try to move up to get matt ryan, meaning that we could probably get brohm in the 2nd and if they trade with us we could another pick elsewhere hopefully their 2nd

I think this is just another example why we are talking to just one player...like I said early....teams will trade...when reality hits.

I don`t think Ryan is looked upon as good enough for ANY team to move up to #1 overall, to get him....Some do not even have him as the top QB in the draft.

I think Baltimore was going QB anyway, this just amplifies it.

We should drop negotiations with Long, and commence talking to Matt Ryan.

No reason to stop the talks...we can just draft Ryan with another team taking him...for their picks...so talking to Ryan isn't needed.

Cam drafts Chad Henne and his family, after passing on Ryan for Desean Jackson.

K, I hate the joke too, and I know its old, but for some reason it came to mind. Sorry, I know, its brutal.

Well... it's hard to say.

Right now they're left with Boller and Troy Smith (who they drafted 5th rd last year).
In 2 starts Smith was about 50% for 425 total yards, 2 tds, 4 sacks, and 2 fumbles. Not great, but not terrible for first two games. It's possible they have enough confidence in him to draft a QB in RD 2 or 3.

However, Ray Lewis isn't going to be around forever. If they want to make another trip to the Super Bowl with that great defense intact, they've got to make a choice at QB soon and stick with it. That's why I could see them putting all thier stock in Ryan if they think he's clearly the best QB availible.

As far as a trade with Miami... it's possible, not likely, but possible. If Atlanta gets Ryan fever, Baltimore will have to trade up with us in order to get him. I don't see the Rams moving down at all. It's clearly possible he falls to Baltimore, but they also have to worry about teams trading ahead of them to pick him up... and that they have no control over. So if this Mcnair thing lights a fire under their butts... and they want to be ASSURED they get Ryan, I'd think they would need to trade into the top 3 to be sure of getting him.

With rumours now spreading that the Chiefs and Jets will take Ryan if he is still there I think the Ravens have to trade up if they really want him.

I dont think it changes their draft that much. I always had them going leodis mckelvin and then either brohm, henne or flacco in the 2nd or trade up into the late first for one of those three.

You lose your starting QB...and it doesn't change a thing?
