Good read. I think our o-line is better than he gives it credit for though.

I agree, the o-line isnt that bad, they need to improve the run blocking, but the pass blocking has been decent.

Finally a guy who isnt a complete idiot writing an article. Nice to see someone looking at things from a unbiased stand point. Not the same old Miami sucked last year so they will suck again crap.

Two seasons plus two games of poor performance followed by one quality game makes Sunday's affair appear to be a fluke. I would likely subscribe to this theory,:fire:

Despite their early season success, the Dolphins still have a bad quarterback situation, with Frerotte having completed fewer than 50% of his passes the last two weeks. Delhomme may struggle with turnovers, but at least he can complete half his passes. :fire:

The line has very little talent, so I still would attribute yesterday's performance to a one-game phenomenon:fire:

I have said it before and will say it again, when Ricky comes back people will say our Oline looks great. Great backs make average lines look a lot better. I like Ronnie, but he is what he is. Both of them together will make defenses have a lot of nightmares. As long as Gus continues what he is doing, not winning games but not losing them, our running game will be fine. Our biggest obstacle is our self. We have GOT to stop the dumb mistakes. NO MORE FLAGS

How do you know what he is? He's only played three games.

nice read man thanks we have the talent i think to compete for a playoff spot any given sunday any team can win....

Good article. Our defense was a little better last year for the first five games, until the injuries began mounting up.

Here is the quote:

Through Week 5 a year ago, the Dolphins' defensive DVOA was -30.1%, even better than the -26.6% they have posted so far this year. Unfortunately, with an inept running game and poor quarterback play, the offense was the worst in the league.

makes alot of interesting points. comments??? sorry if this was posted already......
Statistics might say this O line is bound to be bad, but what statistics, as used by a computer, can't tell you is that the offensive line is one position/unit in football where raw physical talent is less important than systematic cohesion between players working together in the same system, on the same page. To use his statistical marker, this offensive line will have a high DVOA value this year, as their performance will, IMO, far exceed the statistical performance predicted by their historical performance.

I'm not sure what Ronnie IS yet...need to see more...I've seen some flashes of talent, but need to see more. As for Gus, I don't see how you can say he hasn't "won" us anything so far. Do you think we would have won either game this year with Feely at QB? I don't. While his completion percentage isn't impressive, Gus made some key throws in both games that secured first downs to keep the chains moving, and even connected on two long distance touchdowns. If he were just standing back there, handing off and throwing 10 yard curls, yeah, I'd agree with you. But he's not. He's attempting all the throws in the book, long, short and intermediate. He's being aggressive, and his completion percentage is showing it. I'm not making excuses for him, as I don't see him as our future, but I call a spade a spade, and right now Gus is performing far better than I could have hoped for. He's not an elite QB, no, but he's not a Fiedler-esque "manage the game" type QB either...he's somewhere in between. So far I've seen a smart QB who isn't afraid to go for the jugular, who can actually make a long completion for a TD now and then (primary difference between him and Fielder), who throws a "smart" ball that is either being caught by the boys wearing our jersey or it's hitting the ground, and who takes command of the team. Things could change, but I like what I see so far.

I wouldnt disagree with a thing the guy said. The way he sees the team is the way I see the team. We need two dominating offensive linemen next year, a quarterback and a secondary. So far, through the first three weeks, offenses have tried to establish a running game against us and have failed miserably. After the bye week, or actually after the Bills game, teams will change their gameplan and attack our secondary. We have 3 weeks to find a solution to our secondary problems or our defensive statistics will start to plummet. We are a good team when playing from a lead. We are horrendous when playing from behind. Gus has gotten away with a subpar performance against the Panthers due tio the defense and Lance Shulters. He is going to have to step up his game if our secondary starts getting attacked the rest of the season. Sub 50% completion averages aren't going to cut it if we intend to get into the playoffs. Right now we have two major problems - quarterback and secondary with the secondary being the first and foremost. At least one of those problems has to be fixed for us to entertain playoff aspirations

It seems that opponents with good quarterbacks will have good success against our secondary and lesser experienced ones will stuggle. We play plenty of good ones the rest of the way, and we saw what a downfield throwing QB in his prime like Delhomme can do to us.
When we play the Patriots, Gus must have excellent games.
