Merged: Jets Sign Sanchez

Glenn Dorsey got about $23 mil guaranteed last year so this is looking like a pretty fair deal.

I still cringe whenever I see some of these rookie contracts though. Yikes.
 
Good move getting him in early. Probably the Jets way of getting positive press after their head coach has been looking like an idiot over the past week.

Yeah man these rookie deals irk me too. I dont care how good you are in college, they shouldnt be getting paid this kind of money. Granted the higher you go, the pay should be better but these rookies should have contracts with a certain amount guaranteed with a boat load of incentives
 
Thats some serious coin for a one year wonder. Heres hoping he's the next Ryan Leaf, but who knows. Drafting a QB high in the 1st round is an absolute crap shoot. He may be Peyton Manning, he maybe A. Smith. One thing is for sure, he is gonna be taking up a lot of cap space whether he is the next Peyton, or if he more resembles Leaf.

I for one would rather break the bank paying Jake Long who has a very high chance of being a cornerstone of your franchise rather than rolling the dice on a one year QB. But sometimes you have to roll the dice an get lucky. Time will tell, I like our chances that he will fail. Tough to make it in that city as a high number 1 pick.

there does! this is getting to be too much.

A guy that hasn't taken a snap gets a pay check like that? It has nothing to do with him personally or the team.....this is a league issue that needs to be addressed.
 
At least with Jake if he couldnt cut it on the left side we could move him to right. Even try Guard, granted it would have been a huge waste of money, but I don't see Sanchez cutting it at WR.

Mark Sanchez is extremely focused and a hard worker, he gets it already. USC coaching staff said they never had a harder worker or guy that prepares better for a game than Mark Sanchez.

I know, putting that much money into an unproven poduct is always risky!
