  • joey needs to take what the defense gives him. he cannot force the ball into coverage. KCs defensive backs are pretty good, and the Chiefs almost exclusively play a cover 2 scheme. there will be a lot of opprotunities for the passing game, but joey cannot throw into coverage.
  • Randy McMichael. Going against a cover 2, the TE is going to get plenty of opprotunities attacking the seams. McMichael will be blocking less, and will have more opprotunies in the passing game. If he doesn't play well, our chances of winning are highly impacted.
  • LB coverage. Larry Johnson is going to get his yards. He will get 80-100 yards. The key is stopping him from breaking the big ones. We cannot afford to give up a 70 yd run like we did against Green Bay. I think the biggest key will be stopping LJ from becoming a threat in the passing game. Gonzalez will be bracketed with a LB and a safety.
  • Defensive Backs making tackles. The Chiefs will counter our ability to get pressure on the QB by running a lot of spread formations. They will run a lot of 3-step drops. They have fast WRs and will look to slice through our defense. With the attention Gonzalez will get, the CBs will have less LB help on the quick slants and in's.
I think this game has the potential to go until the last second. KC is rolling on offense, and the Dolphins defense is playing at a very high level. The key will be Joey limiting his mistakes. This will be a game of field position and turnovers. Whoever wins those two areas will be victorious Sunday.

Nah, it all boils down to SHUTTING DOWN LJ and Gonzalez.
That's not to say some of your points aren't valid but, it is NOT a GIVEN like everyone believes that Johnson will get yards. We're one of the more capable defenses that he has played against this season. He's been shut down before, let's do it again.

keepign their offense off the field by pounding ronnie early this time... if we can establish a lead early and play ball control we'll win... we cant fall behind and let them start pounding LJ for 35 carries... we need to set the tone early with a score and let ronnie keep their offense off the field...

with as well as huard has played, we cannot afford to stack the line. our secondary is still a weak spot. they have an extremelly effective offense, we cant just go out there and shut them down in all phases. look for saban and capers to let LJ get some yards, but handcuff their passing game. we have the personnel to limit LJ without bringing a safety into the box.

Another key would be (if the game is close in the 2nd half) continue to feed Ronnie the ball....whether on the ground or through the air. If we run the ball less than 20 times, I would almost gurantee we're gonna lose. We saw how Ronnie ran the ball in the 4th quarter against the Bears which killed the clock and salted away the game. If he gets to carry the ball like that against KC, we're gonna win.

i think this game will be easily won b/c D.H is a fake were gona pick his life apart just like we did to REX and we can stop L.J just hire someone to tell jason taylor he sucks and well win every game

Key to winning:

Make sure Harrington doesn't throw it more than 30 times......

Excellent thread, insightful. I feel it really boils down to limiting LJ on big runs, keeping Gonzales in check, and feeding Ronnie the ball a LOT to keep KC offense off the field.

This would be a great time for you guy's to return the favor of us beating the Patriots for you.

Thank you in advance...

I think the main key to winning this game is that we are gonna have to make sure we score a quantity of points that is greater than that scored by KC. If we are able to do that, I think we have a descent chance of pulling off the win. GO PHINS!!!:dolphins:

sometimes you cant help it. teams will stack the box, bring up a safety. there will be a point where harrington has to execute.

KC is weak on the D line and is also missing derrick johnson,,,POWER RUNNING GAME TO THE MAX,,our offensive line is feelin good about themselves and i hope saban looked at them and said boys they game is yours, get us a win.

On D,if we were ever going to play man to man with 7 or 8 in the box this is the game, kennison and parker don't scare me and if we just let our guys run with their receivers all day we won't fall for any play action stuff.

The second chapter of the script is gonna be written on sunday.

That is the BIGGEST issue Miami will face. If they get a 10+ point lead early, I am not confident enough in Joey to bring this team back:

A. The offense has to limit 3 and outs early. Long, established drives early in the game are a must!

B. Score TDs in the Red Zone. Miami has had trouble with this the entire season.

C. Try to keep them from establishing an early lead. Any lead is bad. But if they are up 2 TDs, Miami's defense will pay with a heavy dose of LJ. This will not bode well for the team later in the game.

D. Hit Huard early and HARD! Miami has the defense to do it. Has Huard even been tested this year?? He will definitely get tested Sunday.

E. If Miami can contain Gonzo (I'm not confident), extra kudos. They do that, they make this team one-dimensional.

and how do you suggest we do these things???

i mean, obviously it would be great if we can run the ball a lot and get a big lead.

WE? Are you on the roster???

Miami has had issues with three and outs. Converting 3rd downs have been a big problem. Long yardage on 3rds almost guarantees a punt.

Everything else is obvious. Stop them early. Hit Huard. No big leads. In other words: PLAY THE DAMN GAME!
