LEAGUE HANDS OUT COMPENSATORY PICKS
The NFL's compensatory picks for the 2008 draft have been released. The picks are determined based on free-agent departures versus free-agent signings in 2006.
The Chargers, 49ers, Colts, and Raiders each will receive an extra third-round pick. Six teams, including the Colts and 49ers again, get a fourth rounder.
The full list is right here.

How did San Fran end up with an exra 3rd & 4th? I don't comprehend the system at all.

San Fransisco is loaded with 3rds and 4ths now. I can't figure out who they lost that justifies that pick.

Does Julian Peterson ring a bell?

DOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:sidelol:

Did they sign Antonio Bryant or did he cut and then signed by the 49ers. That should go against them. Larry Allen was cut beforehand.

Hmm.....dunno. I haven't checked out the page, but it should have the players/reason behind the picks. Kinda sucks that we did not get any. Oh well.....

i dont even get how these teams get compensantory picks ...... how do teams get them ?

actually it's quite simple, you need to have lost more free agents than what you signed, and then they attach value to each one lost. San Diego gets a 3rd round pick for losing Brees, Raiders also lost Woodson and they get a 3rd. Anyway, the value is based on the 2006 season. That's it in a nutshell, although there's more to it than that.

Julian Peterson for the 3rd round pick. Andre Carter for the 4th round pick. Antonio Bryant was signed after he was released so that it does not count against them. Nolan seems to have his team on the upswing. More good proof of that. Lets hope Cameron can do the same.

Also I think sometimes you WANT the Redskins to sign your FAs. :D
