LEINART SLIPPING?

Those pictures of USC quarterback Matt Leinart that are making the rounds on the Internet (scroll up for our copy) supposedly were snapped on Saturday night. And there's some talk that Leinart's growing reputation as a "party guy" could end up knocking him lower than No. 2 in the 2006 NFL draft.

Already, Leinart's decision to come back for his final year of college eligibility is costing him plenty of money, since he would have been the No. 1 overall pick in the 2005 draft. Now that NFL scouts have had another year to eyeball Leinart, it's possible that he slips even farther.

Some already folks believe that Texas quarterback Vince Young will go higher than Leinart, if Young skips his senior season and enters the draft. If, as a result, Leinart ultimately ends up at No. 3 or lower, the difference between what Leinart would have made with the Alex Smith contract and what he will earn in the 2006 draft could be staggering.

I think leinart may well have slipped out of the #1 slot (depending on who has the pick) but i don't see any way that he slips out of the top 5 or vince young goes ahead of him

If vince comes out he will be drafted higher.. the guy is just better. he just is.

God I hope he goes higher... oh man, if by some miracle we landed Leinart...

Im the only one it seems that doesnt buy into all the leinart hype

he may have the best rookie season of any QB

but not the best career imo

regardless if you think he is overrated... you cant deny that he would be a hell of a steal if we some how picked him at like #15...

I know you love Young, but that doesnt mean you have to hate on Leinart...

I guess if leinart was available at 15 id have to say yes

I dont hate leinart because of young

I dont hate leinart period, I just dont like his arm strength

I guess Id have to say leinart over cutler though

his arm strength really isnt as much of an issue as you are making it out to be. You are a QB... you know that a cannon is worthless if you dont know how to use it. Leinart has some amazing accuracy and touch. he can put passes on the money with the receiver in stride. Its not like he has Pennington arm strength or anything either...

oh, and dont forget your favorite aspect of a QB... hes got good mechanics...

Leinart isn't a "can't miss" prospect like some of you make him out to be.
Partying and staying in college for a 5th year to take ballroom dancing demonstrates that he is a guy who doesn't relish tougher competition.

True, I used to have just the arm and they always made me play WR untill I showed some touch and accuracy

But

Also know leinart has a team around him that makes plays, so everything you see is being made look better by the team around him

I cant argue the mechanics, but is he cool in the pocket when the rush is coming? Ive never seen a steady pass rush on the man so I dont know really, and he takes dancing and parties...is he mature enough?

picking in the middle of round one... there is NO WAY we can pass up on him...

and he didnt stay in college to party when he could be making millions of dollars and partying much harder...

he actually had to have elbow surgery this past offseason. There was alot of concern about it and he came back to solidify that he is a great QB.

Plus, he has improved since last year... whats wrong with a kid wanting to stay in school to develop his skills a little more as well?

with all of this said, I am not a Leinart obesser like some are on here. He isnt in my sig or anything. But it isnt hard to spot his obvious talent either...

he is talented, and im not a hater, and if he is there at the 15 pick we take him, but im really against trading up for him

oh and I just realized if we miss the playoffs we cant be picking any higher than 16

once you make the playoffs you are seeded in the draft accordingly *superbowl winner 32, runner up 31*

So if we miss the playoffs the worst position we can have is 16

correct me if im wrong

What 22 year old guy doesnt like to party? Its not like the kid is out of control though... I mean, he hasnt had any off the field issues or anything. I know you are 15, but what he does is no different than any other 22 year old. Can you blame him that he loves the Cali girls?

He is also very cool in the pocket. I would say his touch is the best part of his game, but pocket presence is prob the second best part... the most important part though, is that he is cool in pressure situations (ala - 4th down vs ND)
